This is another lake that I came across while on a 4 month overlanding trip into the wild wilderness stretches of the northwestern United States. Riffe Lake, originally known as Mossyrock Lake, was created in 1968 by the completion of a dam. It stretches over 13 miles along US-12 in the state of Washington.
Although I had my fishing gear with me, I paused only long enough to take a picture and meet some people. I wish I had been able to do some fishing, though... the lake is known for its landlocked coho and Chinook salmon, as well as an occasional large brown trout. Rainbow and cutthroat trout are also found in the lake, as are brown bullheads, bluegill, and crappie. There are no Kokanee in the lake, however. .
This view of the lake was shot from Highway 12 on the northern shore.

Museum at Prairiefire colorful glass exterior as the dawning day bends the light. A museum a natural history melded with art and augmented reality that opened in Overland Park Kansas in 2014 boasts an unique stained glass exterior that is equally a visual fest for those of the photographic persuasion. I was glad my friend and co-worker from Long Island scouted this location that was worth the bitter cold we both endured on that morning. #developportdev @gothamtomato @developphotonewsletter @omsystem.cameras #excellent_america #omsystem @bheventspace @bhphoto @adorama @tamracphoto @tiffencompany #usaprimeshot #tamractales @visitthemap @mpbcom @kehcamera @visitoverlandpark @visitkansas #omd #microfourthirds @siruiimaging #micro43 #micro43photography

One very frigid mid-west morning last month in Overland Park Kansas a co-worker who hails from Long Island ventured to the Prairiefire section of Overland Park to see and get some images of the Museum at Prairiefire, a beautiful museum with unique architecture that opened in 2014. It was cold but was glad we braved the elements as the Museum at Prairiefire did not disappoint. The stained glass gives the outside of the Museum a unique look and did not disappoint. The museum was closed obviously because my co-worker and I arrived just as the sun was rising as we needed to get to work on that same day. - [x] #developportdev @gothamtomato @developphotonewsletter @omsystem.cameras #excellent_america #omsystem @bheventspace @bhphoto @adorama @tamracphoto @tiffencompany #usaprimeshot #tamractales @kehcamera @mpbcom #omd #microfourthirds #micro43photography @visitthemap @visitoverlandpark @visitkansas
The start of the Overland Track near Cradle Mountain, Tasmania. We walked along this section of the track to get to other (shorter) walks. The Overland Track takes 6 days - one day ...
Still in Kamloops, I decided to work on the Overlander Bridge, and try to make something of it. As it turned out, the shapes rather than the bridge itself, made the most interesting of the images taken. Creating a kind of window and framing the landscape beyond, resulted in the most compelling of the work that day.
It is also satisfying that the water is back in the Thompson River. For some time now, one could walk quite far out onto sand bars, leaving us wondering about water levels. But, plenty of rain and cooler temperatures seemed to have helped current conditions.

Still need to finish it. Inspired by Missing Brick's tractor, I wanted to do something else that might feel at home in the Hadley's Hope settlement. Going to swap the cockpit for a really boxy one instead.
EDIT: Not sure why the pic is so dark, will fix it when I get home.

I think the healthy sounding 14litre Cummins was pushing out a good deal more than 270hp!

A local treasure filled with walking trails, flowers, wildlife, sculpture from local artists and a Chinese sculpture garden, all for a paltry $3 (used to be free).
I used the 3D portion of Photoshop and placed the picture on "cube wraps." It does the harder work for you. If I had a 3D printer I could make a nice little doodad. :) Happy Sunday!
Willys Overland Crossley radiator. Must have been made before 1934 when the company wound up. Still looked serviceable.

With very little discounting on domestic airfares combined with poor airline service reliability, there has been a small, but noticeable, swing back to domestic rail travel in the lead up to Christmas this year.
Even the poor twice-weekly Overland service from Melbourne to Adelaide has seen its usual consist of six vehicles increased to nine or ten.
Running about 50 minutes late, Pacific National loco NR35 heads Journey Beyond's Adelaide bound train, the last service before Christmas above Callington, South Australia @ 1730hrs on 23 December 2022.
