Orders packaged and ready to be shipped. I write a thank you note on the back of a post card to each of my customers. I truly appreciate each one of them.
I so wanted to take this pedal cart home from the car boot sale this morning, but I doubt I'd have been allowed back in the house if I had. What a fabulous toy, though.

Inukai was qualified as a person of cultural merit in 1987 for his contribution to the study of Man'yoshu. The Order of the Sacred Treasure, Gold and Silver Star, was posthumously conferred on him on the very day that he passed away. These are displayed here as well as his organizer and notebooks. The Orders and Medals Research Society is a UK-based society with a global membership, the Hong Kong Branch was the first overseas branch established in 1987 by John Wright. Our Society and Branch exist to promote a general interest in the study of orders, decorations and medals and to actively encourage and publish research into all aspects of civil and military medals, with a particular focus on those issued by Great Britain and the Commonwealth countries.
Members’ interests range from awards for gallantry in battle, or bravery in saving life, through forgotten wars and far-flung campaigns, to long and meritorious public service away from the limelight. Research interests stretch from pure numismatics, through the military or social history surrounding the circumstances of awards, to the genealogy of the medal recipient.
Panda, standing in line to order us some xiao long bao, a tasty Wuxi specialty, meat wrapped in dough with a wonderful juice/gravy inside. There is a small snack street in the ancient village that we like to go to that makes nice xiao long bao.
We took Mary to Hui Shan Gu Zhen, the recreated ancient village in Wuxi that we like so much.

Fort George served as the headquarters for the Centre Division of the British Army during the War of 1812. British forces included British regulars, local militia, aboriginal warriors, and a corps of freed slaves. Major-General Sir Isaac Brock served at Fort George until his death at the Battle of Queenston Heights on October 13, 1812. Brock and his aide-de-camp John Macdonell, who were both killed during the battle, were initially interred at the fort. In May 1813, the Americans captured Fort George following a barrage of artillery fire from Fort Niagara (located less than 1000 metres across the Niagara River) and ships at the mouth of the river and on Lake Ontario. The bombardment destroyed most of the fort, which was held by the Americans for 7 months.
The Americans used Fort George and the adjacent town of Niagara-on-the-Lake as a base to invade the rest of Upper Canada. However, British forces repulsed the Americans at the Battles of Stoney Creek and Beaver Dams. The British recaptured Fort George in December 1813. During the American withdrawal, they razed the town and the fort. The townspeople rebuilt Niagara-on-the-Lake following the war, and the British partially rebuilt Fort George. However, Fort George's importance diminished as a result of the construction of Fort Mississauga down river on the other side of Niagara-on-the-Lake. As a result, Fort George fell into ruin and was abandoned in 1820.
The fort has since been rebuilt to how it would have appeared during the War of 1812. The only structure that survived the war was, ironically, its most vulnerable: the powder magazine.
