Dendrobium is a huge genus of orchids. It was established by Olof Swartz in 1799 and today contains about 1,200 species.

This is one of the many very pretty orchids that we found around the hotel we stayed at in Dominican Republic. Orchid are one of my favourite flowers because of the variety you can get plus the colour combinations.

Just had to honour this beauty as she is about to bloom AGAIN!! She has not taken more than a 2 month break since I got her in October 2015.

Oh I do like a pretty orchid. Always so exquisite.

As part of the big Orchid Extravaganza at Garden Works (my local plant store) they are having a photo contest. Count me in.
