Every year in the first weekend of March, the orchids of Mendel University´s botanic gardens show their full beauty to the world. The traditional cultivation of orchids in the university botanics garden goes back to the early 20th Century.
Interesting color... Westerlay Orchids will not put names or crosses on there stock. I picked up several over the last couple of years for my account in Beverly Hills, it is frustrating to not have a cross labeled.
One of my favourite flowers and what a treat I had as the meadows were full of them so quess what I had to take a photograph!!

Another sunny day, so another afternoon spent on a chalk grassland and woods in Kent. Lots more orchids and butterflies seen - bring the total to 13 types of orchid, and at least 18 types of butterfly or moth.
We saw these a month ago when they were only just starting to open - now every stem had lots of flowers.
... Me? I’m not off for anywhere at all.
