Orchid at the Missouri Botanical Garden.

This used to be a controversial species with some taxonomists saying it would be a natural hybrid between Cattleya warneri and Laelia grandis. Actually, the plant has four pollinia, a stable population, a different blooming time and so on. In 2002, if memory serves me correctly, Dr. Carl L. Withner got it off of his dubious species list and recognized as a perfectly valid species.

Phalaeonopsis

These orchids were taken at the Flickr Botanical Gardens in Cairns about 10 days ago, or so. I photographed 6 types I think, and posted one already, and now two more here. As usual I don't know that they are but I have a couple of very good orchid contacts such as greenprof who may be able to help.

Best wishes to everyone for a wonderful week. I appreciate you all.
