A small plant of this beautiful orchid was given to me by a friend and neighbor, it has in the meantime grown to a large plant with 4 flower stalks this year.

I keep it outdoors all year round.

Friend gave this orchid plant as a gift. It is beautiful. Testing out the Sigma 50mm lens at widest aperture to blur the boring background.

orchid in bloom @ home place

This orchid is very special to me for a couple of reasons. One, is that it is named for a special person, and two, it is the first orchid that has bloomed twice from the same spray. I have never seen that happen before. Originally, it had two large sprays of blooms, and they lasted about two weeks. The last of the blooms fell off but 3 week later, I noticed that two flower buds had formed on the ends of the old spray. They have now bloomed. This is the two on one spray.

Botanical Gardens shot.

A pretty orchid from a great orchid booth at the California State Flower, Food and Garden show. My camera is broken. I decided to also sell my Canon XSI because it is all too complicated for me. I found another camera that is going to be much more fun but I don't have it yet.
