We were leaving Estero Llano Grande State Park in South Texas just after dark, when the family in front of us spotted this orbweaver that had dropped down in the middle of the path. Eric was able to tell them all about her, and it was a cool teaching moment. Really cool, big spider too!

A beautiful Lattice Orbweaver in her lair.

There were plenty of spiders and snakes at Circle B the last time I was there. This lovely lady looks like she could use a little web repair.

Cyclosa turbinata, Trashline Orbweaver for Arachtober the 20th

Orchard Orbweaver on a Green and Purple Leaf

I always see these making webs between the bushes around the house.

This is a picture of a Acanthepeira stellata along the Wildlife Loop on the North Tract of the Patuxent Research Refuge near Fort Meade, Maryland.

Arachtober 9th - Trashline Orbweaver, Cyclosa turbinata. Had a few of the little guys around the deck n backyard fence this past year.

Order: Araneae. Family: Araneidae. Species: Araneus diadematus (Clerck, 1758). Also known as the European Garden Spider, Diadem Spider or Cross Spider. Native to central and northern Europe. (Salem, Massachusetts)

I saw this really tiny (maybe 1-2mm) orbweaver spider capture an insect just before taking this shot. For scale: the 100x100 thumbnail displays the spider at about actual size on my screen.

One of the coolest looking spiders, in my opinion.

Dewdrops provide endless opportunities for experimenting with the macro :)

Orb weaver, Zygiella x-notata, in the hub of its web inside a parking garage in downtown Portland, Oregon, USA, December 22, 2014.

Bukit Fraser, Malaysia

This katydid was more like a katydidn’t, and what an enormous meal for this lucky orb weaver!

I think these tiny spiders are harmless

Subfamily Araneinae, Kilauea Volcano, Hawai'i

Cribellate orbweaver, Uloborus sp., in her web. These spiders are not closely related to orbweavers in the family Araneidae. These spin fluffy trapping threads, not sticky ones, and the spiders themselves lack venom glands. Estero Llano Grande State Park, Texas, USA, November 10, 2021.

This was taken hand-held leaning backwards with my knee on a cinderblock. The blue is the sky. The spider is securing captured prey.

While cutting wood I happened upon this pretty orange spider. It wasn't too happy about having a photo sesssion so I had to let her run and hide.
