Orb-weaver spiders are members of the spider family Araneidae. They are the most common group of builders of spiral wheel-shaped webs often found in gardens, fields, and forests. The English word orb can mean "circular", hence the English name of the group. Araneids have eight similar eyes, hairy or spiny legs, and no stridulating organs.

An Orb Weave Spider spotted on its web in the garden, taken using a simple, cheap, close-up lens.

I did this one a while back but didn't post it anywhere as it's taken a while to grow on me.

Thanks for Viewing.

Forest spirit orb,

Seen, and unseen, by some men,

Reflects nature’s soul;

Hauntingly reminding us

It is time to pay the toll…

Digging through the archives...from last year. A few years ago, the auto-focus on my 100mm macro lens crapped out, and I've really missed using that lens more often. Very hard to catch critters with manual focus!

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July!
