Today I went to the eye doctor for my yearly eye exam. Of course I had to get my eyes dilated and it sucked! I hate the way it makes me feel like I am a drunk with blurred vision. On the bright side, I learned something new about my left eye. For those of you that know me well enough, know that I have a "lazy" left eye; this means that the muscles in my eye are slightly off in a sense that they cause my eye to sit at an angle. I have had it my whole life (have been wearing glasses since the age of three).

Well, because I live in a different state and have military insurance and blah, blah, blah, I had to go and see a new Optometrist. The staff at Lord Eye Center were wonderful and provided me with a wonderful eye experience. haha. The doctor looked at my optic nerves and told me something that I didn't know! I have an under developed optic nerve in my left eye, thus making it difficult for me to see out of it! All this time we thought I couldn't read properly from it because of the way it sits in my head (yes, that still plays a part), but had no idea it was because of my optic nerve. It my parent's knew about this, I don't recall them telling me! She said that one half of the nerve was round and normal where as the other half was flat and the blood vessels were small. Then she looks in my right eye and says that it is perfectly normal. Hmm, thanks mom for the underdeveloped optic nerve! Unfortunately there isn't a way to correct it because it just isn't developed; I was born this way. She also warned me to be aware that if I have children, they too could have the same condition.

It sounds unfortunate, but I actually found it to be really interesting as to why I could never read/function properly with my left eye. :D

Anyways, $350 later I have an order in for awesome new glasses! Yay! Thanks Tricare for sucking butt when it comes to military spouse coverage! It was a fun experience trying to find the perfect frame; Brian was extremely helpful! <3 Also, turns out our sales guy was a Marine as well! OOHRAH! haha. Ahh, still only sounds cool when a Marine says it.

p.s. I had to use my little point and shoot because I just couldn't hold the D90 up long enough to get the shot I wanted. lol And it is too heavy for the little tripod I have.

The first time I went to the optometry in America. I was curious. I never went to the official optometry before in US or in China. The instrument in the photo is used to examine eyes. There is a small and clean mirror with wooden frame. Thus, I took a selfie with a "V" gesture.

"Do you see clearer with lens number one or lens number two," is an eye examination. This machine can duplicate almost every known prescription with the turning of a few dials. The numbers on the dials are then read, transferred to paper and you have your new prescription. [Ophthalmology.] [Scene.] Optometry.
