Finally got to this little Oregon oasis in the snow. It's a challenge enough for some to do it in perfect weather in Spring or Fall, but the Snow and Ice made it an extra challenge. It was also my last shoot before moving to Florida and I got to shoot with one of my very best friends in the world, Andrew Mitchell. Thank you, Andrew, for such an awesome time!
This was my first shoot with the Voigtlander 10mm. FUN lens! :)

Plumeria is a genus of flowering plants in the dogbane family, Apocynaceae. Most species are deciduous shrubs or small trees. The species variously are indigenous to Mexico, Central America, Hawaii and the Caribbean, and as far south as Brazil, but are grown as cosmopolitan ornamentals in warm regions. Common names for plants in the genus vary widely according to region, variety, and whim, but Frangipani or variations on that theme are the most common. Plumeria also is used directly as a common name, especially in horticultural circles.
Plumeria flowers are most fragrant at night in order to lure sphinx moths to pollinate them. The flowers yield no nectar, however, and simply trick their pollinators. The moths inadvertently pollinate them by transferring pollen from flower to flower in their fruitless search for nectar. Insects or human pollination can help create new varieties of plumeria. Plumeria trees from cross pollinated seeds may show characteristics of the mother tree or their flowers might just have a totally new look.]
Plumeria species may be propagated easily by cutting leafless stem tips in spring. Cuttings are allowed to dry at the base before planting in well-drained soil. Cuttings are particularly susceptible to rot in moist soil. One optional method to root cuttings is applying rooting hormone to the clean fresh-cut end to enable callusing. Plumeria cuttings could also be propagated by grafting a cutting to an already rooted system.] There are more than 300 named varieties of Plumeria.
In Persian, the name is yas or yasmin.In Bengali the name is "Kath Champa", in Hindi, champa, in Gujarati champo, in Marathi chafa (चाफा), in Telugu deva ganneru (divine nerium), in Meitei khagi leihao. In Hawaii, the name is melia, although common usage is still 'plumeria'. In Malayalam it is called Arali (അരളി). In Sri Lanka, it is referred to as araliya (අරලිය) and (in English) as the 'Temple Tree'. In Cantonese, it is known as gaai daan fa or the 'egg yolk flower' tree. The name lilawadi (originating from Thai) is found occasionally. In Indonesia, where the flower has been commonly associated with Balinese culture, it is known as kamboja, in Bali especially it is known as jepun. In French Polynesia it is called tipanie or tipanier and tīpani in the Cook Islands. In the Philippines it is called kalachuchi.

The Arrow Rapier – or Fastback, as it came to be known – launched in October 1967was a four-seat coupé based on the chassis of the Hillman Hunter Estate. Although the Rapier used the tail lamps and rear valance from the Hunter Estate, the rest of its superstructure was unique.
The Rapier used the Rootes four-cylinder, five-bearing 1,725 cc (105.3 cu in) engine, which was tilted slightly to the right to enable a lower bonnet line, in common with the other Arrow models. With its twin Stromberg 150CD carburettors the engine produced 88 hp Overdrive was standard with the manual gearbox, and Borg-Warner automatic transmission was an optional extra.
The Fastback Rapier continued almost unchanged until 1976, when it was discontinued without a replacement. During its lifetime it formed the basis for the more powerful Sunbeam Rapier H120 (108hp), introduced in October 1968 To add to its sporty image, the H120 had wider Rostyle wheels broad side flashes, polished sill covers, a matt black radiator grille and a new boot lid incorporating a faired-in spoiler. To further distinguish the model from others in the range, it had H120 badges on the front wings and in the centre of the grille. The H120 was discontinued with the Fastback Rapier in 1976
The Sunbeam Alpine Fastback, introduced in October 1969, was essentially a Rapier with a simplified specification, developed to fill a gap in the Arrow range above the Singer Vogue. It used the same 1,725 cc (105.3 cu in) engine as the Hillman Hunter which, fitted with a single Stromberg 150CD carburettor, developed 74 hp. The Alpine, though well equipped, was less sporty in style than the Rapier. It had a wooden dashboard with fewer instruments, instead of the Rapier's cowled plastic one, and wood instead of metal on the transmission tunnel. There were also different wheel trims, no aluminium sill finishers (nor the polished ones of the H120) and no vinyl trim on its C-pillars. Above all at £1086 in the UK it was significantly (for the time) cheaper than the £1200 Rapier. Maximum speed of the Alpine was 91 mph (146 km/h) and it could reach 60 mph (97 km/h) from rest in 14.6 seconds. One of the most popular styles of sushi in the United States & Canada is the California Roll & has been influential in sushi's global popularity by inspiring sushi chefs everywhere in the world to create new versions added to the traditional sushi cuisine.
•…& as always, there are quite a few stories which identity the “Creator” of the California roll. Between the 60th & 70th been cited as the dish's originator by several chefs, restaurant owners & what a wonder, some food writers claimed to be the first one to write about a California Roll, several chefs from Los Angeles have been cited as the dish's originator, as well as a chef from Vancouver. Regardless of who invented it, after becoming a favourite in southern California the dish became popular all across the United States by the 1980s & from there internationally.
However & whoever, I think the California Rolls are a great addition to the traditional Sushi Heritage.
📌... a short info about sushi & its history;
Even if sushi, also spelled zushi in the USA, is regarded as a typical Japanese dish all over the world, sushi does not originally come from Japan but finds its roots in the 2nd century AD in China.
Salted fish preserved in rice, which was only eaten after a fermentation period, was described as sushi. Even today, this method of preparation, "Funa Sushi" in Japan is the oldest type of sushi, although sushi first made its way to Japan from China in the 7th century AD by Buddhist monks. The current form of sushi originated in Japan during the Edo period from 1603-1867.
In China, due to a food shortage, this way of preserving fish was discontinued & sushi ceased to exist in China. In contrast to Japan, a country that has always been dependent on fully exploiting its own resources, people were looking for the possibility of sushi; in this case sushi means the fish, to combine it with the rice in such a way that the rice was also edible. This was achieved by pressing the fish, which was marinated in salt & rice, with a heavy stone in order to seal the fish airtight & thus facilitate the process of lactic acid fermentation.
Even today, when preparing sushi, the rice is compressed in some form & the rice is always seasoned with rice vinegar, sugar &salt.

An optional excursion to this beautiful Czech UNESCORTED world heritage town was a special treat..... This place was almost untouched during WW2...... And it is now an excellent example ..... See this Internet quotation: Wikipedia history. Note:
"Construction of the town and castle began in the late 13th century at a ford in the Vltava River, which was important in trade routes in Bohemia. In 1302 the town and castle were owned by the House of Rosenberg. Emperor Rudolf II bought Krumlov in 1602 and gave it to his natural son Julius d’Austria. Emperor Ferdinand II gave Krumlov to the House of Eggenberg. From 1719 until 1945 the castle belonged to the House of Schwarzenberg. Most of the architecture of the old town and castle dates from the 14th through 17th centuries; the town's structures are mostly in Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque styles. The core of the old town is within a horseshoe bend of the river, with the old Latrán neighborhood and castle on the other side of the Vltava.
The town was seat of Duchy of Krumlov. 8,662 inhabitants lived in Krumau an der Moldau in 1910, including 7,367 Germans and 1,295 Czechs.
During the interwar era it was part of Czechoslovakia. Between 1938 and 1945 it was annexed by Nazi Germany as part of the Sudetenland. The town's German-speaking population were expelled after World War II and it was given to Czechoslovakia.[4]
During the Communist era of Czechoslovakia, Krumlov fell into disrepair, but since the Velvet Revolution of 1989 much of the town's former beauty has been restored, and it is now a major holiday destination popular with tourists from Germany, Austria and beyond, as far as China. In August, 2002, the town suffered from damage in the great flood of the Vltava River."
