opticians; the eyes, vision, good eyesight, eye patients, blind, partially sighted, anyone suffering from eye problems, ocular afflictions and ear diseases; Alsace and Strasbourg, France

The intention was to go to Loughor to capture tonight's sunset , but then I got a call from the Optician to say my new specs were ready to be picked up. I was just in time to take a few shots across The

Sailbridge, SA1 before coming home.

It has amused me for a while that this is the only pair of glasses in the window display of an Opticians in Bromley High Street, South London.....

Surely they must do more frames than this????

Thanks for visiting....

Life as a senior citizen:

Margaret sniffed. “I still don’t see why we needed to use the satnav just to go to the optician’s.”

“It’s not about the destination, it’s about proving a point.”

……. Whilst cleaning my glasses just prior to Christmas they snapped in half! My Opticians did a fantastic turn around on a new pair so I had them in time for Christmas. seeing as its not a nice day outside I chose an inside subject for my #362 shot of the day……Alan:-)

I bought myself some new reading glasses ... they cost all of £1.99 and work just fine, but don't tell my optician :))

THROUGH A [GLASS OR A MIRROR] DARKLY is the topic for Saturday, 8.10.19 Group Our Daily Challenge

Paid a visit to the optician yesterday - I knew my specs needed changing and sure enough the old mince pies have deteriorated quite a bit - probably why I've had so many migraines lately. Also have cataracs to keep an eye on [forgive the pun]. It will be two weeks before I get my new specs so, meanwhile I will post the odd oldies ....

I am very fortunate to have the Ifield Mill Pond at the bottom of my road and I'm looking forward to the weather warming up and the winds dropping soon so that I can take a stroll over there.

It's a lovely day today but I'm housebound as I have my son [who has learning difficulties] visiting. He is looked after very well for me in his own little flat and visits me at weekends.

I really liked the way the rippling water reflected everything in this pic and I played around with the colour a bit ....

wearing my beloved transparent Cazals that were liberated from an opticians in Watford.

Another dark, dismal day today so something I hope that'll bring a smile to people's faces.

How this came about though is yesterday's visit to my Optician where thankfully I didn't need new specs but he did confirm that a matter of something called Optic Nerve Drusen is getting worse. In layman's terms it basically means that my eyes are poor in dark conditions but not poor enough for me to take photos .

I completely forgot to mention (this images reminded me). During 2020, I was having terrible trouble with my eyes. I couldn't see very well at all. I had to wait for lockdown here to end to get to the opticians. I failed miserably on all the tests. I couldn't drive as my sight was so bad. Turns out I developed thick cataracts in both eyes. I got emergency appointments to have them operated on, and by September I could see very well again (although I can't see well close up and still have glasses for that).

This image was taken before the ops. The light was killing my eyes and pretty much every shot I took at this location was terrible. :)

"Opticians" ....... Zurich 2012

Shall be posting an Image a day for the next year, 365 (or 366 if it is a Leap year...not checked!!).

The Format will be different...some images have been shown before, some are new...... At the moment I am now starting a "New" Project.....Well it is "New" for me, although it has been done before by many, many People too!!!.

I will follow the direction I have chosen but there is plenty of room for me to chop and change at a later date...I guess it depends how I feel about it at a later date.

This Project will now give me the time to work with other ideas I am playing with. There will still be months in which I post other pics too from themes I have worked with in the past......I have just made a little more time and space available to me.

So hope you like the changes.......

Please use red/cyan anaglyph goggles, for anaglyph glasses ask your local optician.

Macro Monday - Sweet spot squared

This was interesting as I quite often use f16 when I want everything in focus but went for f9 in the end for this shot as I felt the point of focus was slightly sharper (if I understand correctly, that was the point of this theme) I felt a bit like I was at the opticians...is it sharper or just closer...I'm never sure there either! ;)

I am slowly catching up after my weekend away. I am going away again in a few days so may not be on Flickr much for the next week, I will try to comment when I can but actually have a very busy few weeks ahead. HMM

I couldn't believe my luck this morning when I went upstairs to change clothes in order to go out. I caught something moving from the corner of my eye picked up my camera and just shot . I wasn't wearing my specs so didn't have the chance to check my settings, neither could I contain my excitement because this is the first time I've ever caught a fox , let alone a cub on camera. Two other shots next along in my phototostream.

PS. I don’t quite know why the colour in this differs from the other two , but one thing I do know is that during a visit to the optician later I was told that my eyesight hasn’t deteriorated in the past year

that's a nice topic for me because my son owns an optician shop

EYEGLASSES is the topic for Friday, February 28, 2020, Group Our Daily Challenge

Firstly I would like to thank everyone for their kind wishes and thoughts from yesterday and before. Graham is home and also says a big thank you to you all too.

Before he came home I had to race into town and grabbed my camera before leaving poor Rufus. (Who is delighted that his Dad is back home)! Noticed this little toy VW Beetle in the optician's window and took a couple of photos.

It was fun, colourful and I liked it!

Graham has got to go back for some other tests at the beginning of September - once all the doctors & specialists are back from their holidays.

I'll also do my best to catch up with your photos, but sorry if I don't comment on all of them.

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourite. :O)

The almost endless transition from the Storkower Straße S-Bahn station to the "Storkower Bogen district centre" with offices, specialist shops, doctors' surgeries, restaurants and services. In addition to restaurants, numerous shops - from magazine kiosks to bakeries, butchers, fruit and vegetables and a well-stocked supermarket - provide local supplies. A post shop branch, bank self-service centre, pharmacy and an optician complete the range of services, as do a law firm and doctors' surgeries. The integrated CEDIO conference centre is available for events of all kinds.

On the way home from Huntly, Aberdeenshire. I'd been to the optician, and only had my iPad with me to take some photos of the view from this beauty spot above the town, looking north to the Highlands. We think of Huntly as where the 'real' Scottish Highlands begin - and I think this view shows why. I was surprised how good the iPad camera is.

I'll be away for a few days - Happy Fence Friday! and have a lovely weekend ;o)

April 2023: A month in 30 pictures

A just in case shot at the opticians whilst waiting for my appointment. The clock and chairs rather appealed to me. I need new glasses and couldn't decide between two very different styles. Fortunately (or unfortunately) they had a special deal on...so what's a girl to do? Gloria made me do it! ;)

The Northern Lights of The Aurora Borealis form amazing displays. As humans through identify threat and food we begin to see all sorts of things within all sorts of often none related things. Pareidolia is the term applied to our making sense of shapes and patterns that brings an acceptance of a structure in an image that many will be also able to see such as either a face for instance, or maybe here a Dragon? The Dragon was visible forming and flying on all through one area of The Northern Lights of The Aurora Borealis that were dancing and continually moving.

As for the title, “is it better either One, Number Two, or Three, maybe Four,” would it be of no surprise to mention that I have seen an Optician recently?

i thought i was being wimpy & left town early to race the storm warnings home — and it turns out my optician would have been delayed this morning, anyway — so, the right decision after all!! and heading north with a good tailwind…
