This stretch of Bear Creek Trail through O'Fallon Park is narrow nad has a fairly sheer drop on one side. We had to step off the trail for mountain bikers several times, but they're all very courteous. Love the Coloradoans...

The trails along San Francisquito Creek in the Baylands are open again at last! News from the water district: The San Francisquito Creek trails are now open The trail along San Francisquito Creek in East Palo Alto and Palo Alto have now been re-opened, with the completion of the Bay-to-Highway 101 Project. Specifically, please note the updated status of the following trails: Palo Alto trails East Bayshore Road to Geng Road: Re-opened Geng Road to Friendship Bridge: Re-opened Friendship Bridge to the Bay: Re-opened East Palo Alto trails East Bayshore Road to Verbena Drive: Re-opened Verbena Drive to Friendship Bridge: Re-opened Friendship Bridge to Bay Road: Re-opened For your safety, please adhere to all trail signage and fencing. While trails are now re-opened, please keep in mind that a few finishing touches to the trails and adjacent areas will be addressed after January 1, 2019. In addition, some work may necessitate temporary closures of certain portions of trails in Palo Alto and East Palo Alto. Upcoming changes will be noted on the project website and via email updates. Additionally, a newly re-constructed Friendship Bridge crossing over the beautiful San Francisquito Creek is now accessible to pedestrians and cyclists. Improved trails overlook a nature friendly marsh within a much wider channel, which was part of the Bay-to-Highway 101 design for improved flood protection features. The project benefits ensure that residents and businesses will no longer need to fear high water flows along this portion of the creek. This project is the result of the collaborative efforts of the San Francisquito Creek Joint Powers Authority and its member agencies, the Santa Clara Valley Water District, the County of San Mateo, and the cities of East Palo Alto, Palo Alto and Menlo Park. This is the first of two planned projects, with the second upstream span in the planning phase. These projects are part of a concerted effort to prevent flooding. Thank you for your patience during the construction phase of this project. Happy trails! #paloalto #openspace via Instagram bit.ly/2BzP8BV
