Shawn Miller (#yeahiknowshawnmiller) and I were finishing a dive and taking photos of a Roboastra luteolineolata nudibranch. This dragonet moved in and really stole the show. These are great fish to observe: not shy, has moments where it isn't constnalty moving. At least somewhat curious.

I was standing on shore, 8 miles away, motioning for the boat to step on it! It was just out of frame and the sun was about to set. I'm sure it saw me, or the wind heard me and pushed harder. It all came together.

Pararescue specialists from the 304th Rescue Squadron, located in Portland, Oregon and supporting the 45th Operations Group’s Detachment 3, based out of Patrick Air Force Base, prepare equipment during an April astronaut rescue exercise with NASA’s Commercial Crew Program and SpaceX off of Florida’s eastern coast. The pararescue specialists, also known as “Guardian Angels,” jumped from military aircraft and simulated a rescue operation to demonstrate their ability to safely remove crew from the SpaceX Crew Dragon in the unlikely event of an emergency landing. A sole humpback whale ventured in close to us while we were anchored on the bank. She/he made a few long slow laps around the boats fishing in the area, surfacing occasionally, and then making deep dives, displaying her beautiful, black and white patterned fluke. The fluke is like a fingerprint for humpbacks. I could probably look this one up and get her name.

After going about 12 miles straight out into the open ocean off the southern tip of Baja, our group of 7 divers dove down to 110 to 120 feet beneath the waves on a "blue water" deep dive. At one point, we were engulfed by about 10,000 Jack Mackerel in a swirling school known as a "bait ball." They quickly moved off into the blue void a few moments later, quite likely being pursued by unseen predators - Gordo Banks, Sea of Cortez, B.C.S., Mexico

After going about 12 miles straight out into the open ocean off the southern tip of Baja, our group of 7 divers dove down to 110 to 120 feet beneath the waves on a "blue water" deep dive. At one point, we were engulfed by about 10,000 Jack Mackerel in a swirling school known as a "bait ball." They quickly moved off into the blue void a few moments later, quite likely being pursued by unseen predators - Gordo Banks, Sea of Cortez, B.C.S., Mexico

I strapped Go Pro Hero 4 to my rig when i did this dive. Shawn Miller (#yeahIknowshawnmiller) found this Pygmy Seahorse and called me over to get some shots. A challenging subject! You can see how small it is and how it moved across to the other side of the crevice in this short video clip.
