Hundreds of people have gathered at Stonehenge to watch the sunrise on the first official day of autumn.

 

About 250 druids, pagans and visitors were given access to the stones to mark the autumn equinox for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic.

Terracotta kernos (vase for multiple offerings) is on view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 151. The vase was created in and around ca. 2300–2200 B.C. during the Early Cycladic III–Middle Cycladic I. However the piece was discovered by Captain Copeland, in a tomb on Melos in 1829. The vase is made out of terracotta and has painted details, the dimensions are overall: 13 5/8 in. (34.6 cm)

Other: 14in. (35.5cm). The vase was used in many religious aspects and the receptacles would have held food or flowers. This piece was gifted by the Annenberg Foundation Gift in 2004. The accession number is 2004.363.1. This image is in the public domain.

This mask was found in Queensland, Australia. This was built from the Toress Strait Islander culture and was worn in part to a costume. Made of metal and string in a(54.6 x 63.5 x 57.8 cm) form. This was meant to mimic animals found on the Mabuiag Island. Worn during hunt ceremonies as a way to spawn fish or animals during a hunt.
