We're doing a cool secret pal kind of thing in 2014 for the ladies at church. The sister I'm encouraging for the year with cards and little gifts is only 13 years old ... it's a LONG time since I was 13!

my husband stacks the cushions from the chairs onto the table when it's raining so they will stay dry under the umbrella. Walter has discovered that this is a great place to hang out -- rain or shine!
I love how well Nikon F100 and AF Nikkor 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5D work together. The Nikkor lens is my new favourite lens. It's perfect especially with film: wide angle and short tele together with nice and soft bokeh.

I chose my coffee table. It's where everything lands, all the time, and it's home to my favorite plant, a jade that won't stop growing! Underneath, it holds most of my CD collection (sad to think that CDs are now outmoded thanks to MP3 players). Resting on the table are two of my proudest creative accomplishments. The book in white, "poetic nature," is a book I put together on Blurb.com; it's a collection of some of my first couple of years' worth of Flickr photos, along with stories, poems, and other things I wrote to accompany them. It is for sale on the website, but I don't make much money off of it. The book below it is a novel by David J. Walker called "Company Orders," and on the top of its cover is my photo of a cobblestone alley in Chicago. The publisher contacted me last April to ask if I'd sell her the one-time right to use the photo on this novel's cover. It is my first photo sale, and I'm very proud of it. One day soon, I hope to add my own novel to this collection (if I ever sell it!).
