I took Mary Ann Moss' online class and made my very first remains of the day journal. The journal measures about 15x21 cm.

13 October 2022, Ichnya, Ukraine: Teacher Natalia Koval leads an online class in textile handiwork at the Ichnya school of Vasilchenko in the Ichnya municipality of Chernihiv Oblast, Ukraine — home to 540 students (boys and girls) aged 6-16. The school is currently empty of its students, with classes taught online only, until secure bomb shelters can be restored at the school. Following the invasion of Ukraine by Russian military forces in February 2022, Ukrainian schools are no longer allowed to undertake onsite schooling without functional bomb shelters available in case or air raids or other attacks. The Lutheran World Federation collaborates with the municipality of Ichnya to help renovate existing but not-yet-functional shelters in the school basement, intended to secure protection for at least 1,000 people in case of emergency. Showing cards I created in watercolor OCC.
Day 1 - watercolor backgrounds.
Tried creating background showed by Jennifer Rzasa's. Didn't get desired result from the first try. And from the second ... Ok, tried a lot lol. Got two pieces I was satisfied with so turned them into cards.
The second one .. went kind of overboard with adding paint :) So it covered the whole panel. Was almost ready to throw it away (as tried to get the "coverage" I saw in class). But the background itself I liked and it reminded me honeycombs. So I went with a bee :))
The vellum under the from panel is embossed in a folder. Reminds me flying path of a buzzing bee :) And the thread behind the sentiment let be flying path as well :))
Finishing touches - sequins. Do you any Sequin-a-holic Anonymous Meetings? I think I'll be needing one in the close future.
More details and supplies list are on my blog.

With online classes, there is a lack of face-to-face communication between professors and students. This can be a negative on the students grasping of a subject.

I just recently signed up for a new online class called: Letter Love 101 Art Journals with JoAnne Sharpe. Our first assignment was to decorate the front and back covers of a composition journal. Since I have TONS of fabric, and not very many scrapbook supplies, I decided to use fabric as my decoration. I also used my embroidery machine for the lettering. Here is the front cover.
I am taking an online class from mixed media artist, Carla Sonheim this week and these are some of my results. It has been great fun creating these guys!
Here is the result of my "Using a Collage". I found various shapes from a catalog and went to town trying to figure out how to make them abstract. Sound easy? Nope... it is not. But, I do like how this one turned out. All I know is I am having lots of fun at least trying to paint in an abstract way. I figure eventually I will get there. Practice makes perfect? Right?

Another card from Watercolor OCC. Balloons, the technique Debby Hughes (aka - cardmaking godess) showed. I'm not very satisfied with the green balloon, and wish I used some grey ink for the sentiment and strings (instead of black). But overall like this card too. It's so airy.

<3 I just finished lesson for week 30 with Jane Davenport <3 love her Art so much! She said this sentence somewhere in the lesson: who is living in my pencil and who is going to fall out today :) and I liked it so much that it just had to be on the picture :P I hope she doesn't mind :)
Materials: Watercolor and some markers.

OMG! One of the best Sunday afternoons ever! I had a day to myself, the moving is over, the unpacking...well, it's sort of happening...the online classes...well, I'm starting to catch up...but who cares?!?! I needed a day to chill and relax all on my own!
I did make the unfortunate mistake of eating just "anywhere" with a good street view. This was Ritz Asia on Bleecker Street in the West Village and their food was just grievously terrible. Thankfully, it was cheap, with a $5 Mojito special that I took full advantage of, and 10% off for cash, which I took advantage of also.
Most restaurants, even though it was 2 pm and already above 90 degrees (Fahrenheit) were "open air" with no a/c. After a few minutes at the table with a cool drink and some spicy food, I was feeling pretty good.
This was right before I saw a heavy movie called RESTREPO. Highly recommended. Read the link!
Also, I had just bought a new book...something recommended to me by a lot of people recently. If you look in original size you might be able to figure it out, if you've read it before. Ah, who am I kidding, it was a page at the beginning and pretty expository...no names or anything. Still, I'd be pretty impressed if you could figure out what I was reading. :)
Bleecker St, Greenwich Village, NYC
...for the "Draw With Me" online class with Alisa Burke.
The coil on the left was from a book on my table. The light was only about 18 inches above it. The doily was wrapped over a small flashlight which was placed on its side on my paper. Had to go over everything with ink because the pencil was too light and didn't show up very well.
