O allah, i seek the counsel of your knowledge, and i seek the help of your omnipotence, and i beseech you for your magnificent grace. Surely, you are capable and i am not. You know and i know not, and you are the knower of the unseen. O allah, if you know that this matter ( then mention the thing to be decided) is good for me in my religion and in my life and for my welfare in the life to come, then ordain it for me and make it easy for me, then bless me in it. And if you know that this matter ( then mention the thing to be decided) is bad for me in my religion and in my life and for my welfare in the life to come, then distance it from me, and distance me from it, and ordain for me what is good wherever it may be, and help me to be content with it ..

The Triple Tau

The compound character known as the triple tau is one of the Royal Arch’s emblems. A triple tau is literally “three Tau’s,” the tau being the nineteenth letter in the Greek Alphabet. The triple tau of Royal Arch Masonry consists of 3 Ts linked in the centre joined at their base.

This mystical character can be signified in a few different ways.

First, the names Hiram of Tyre and Hiram Abif appear in the Phoenican language with the same letters “H” and “T” as they do in English. Therefore, the Triple Tau takes on the interpretation of the initial letters in Hiram Abif’s name.

Second, it signifies also T. H., Templum Hierosolym, the Temple of Jerusalem, and when used as the Royal Arch symbol, some jurisdictions teach that the wearer acknowledges himself a servant of God.

Third, Christians in Greek or Roman influence anciently used a tau cross. The basis of a triple tau in early church history would mean the trinity of father, son, and holy spirit. A belief in the triune nature of godhead is common to many faiths and religions.

A triangle is a simple shape in geometry that has taken on great spiritual significance and symbolism. The equilateral triangle was revered by ancient nations as containing the greatest and most abstruse mysteries, and as a symbol of God, denoting a triad of intelligence, a triad of deity, a triune God. The equilateral triangle shows equality with its three angles of the same degrees. In one way, it best represents deity by its equality or perfection in design and proportion.

The triangle is a symbol of divine union, and an emblem of the mysterious triune, equally representing the attributes of deity, and his triune essence: omnipotence (all powerful), omnipresence (eternal) and omniscience (all knowing).

Dear All

Thank you your Majesty and loyal subjects. This speedy correspondence has saved me a lot of palava etc so I shall just say my snaps are up on flickr now at www.flickr.com/photos/pitzys_pyx/.

I should like to say that we missed TWF all day (yes we did) but cold 90s humour might here say "but I couldn't" just for a snigger. I should also like to say thank you to:

Maryla for her Sandy Smith Mud Pies

Liz M for her wonderful shortcake biscuits (the choc chip ones were particularly good :))

Malcolm X for his fruit and vanilla buns, they were very very tasty.

Whoever brought the Jaffa Cakes

To you all for your laughs and banter.

Dave Lowe for his folk and Beetles songs.

For those who wondered why I had stopped by the road side on my way home see the first snap.

Cheers

JP

Now this is what makes Tuesdays such fun and keeps me nearly sane – you should see me when I’m really balmy! Very many apologies for the lack of cake – I will try hardy next time (depending on the day and the venue!).

Thanks for all the grovelling and the wonderful singing. Could you just shorten my name to She as long as I promise not to do an “Ursula Undress” and wear a chamois leather. Thanks also for the decent weather, not that it was cold where I was standing!

I can report that I was at the Rufus Centre this afternoon and there was JB, Audrey and their lovely daughter. JB allowed me to feel his new pulse and I can recommend it as a strange experience and I think he’s got a battery somewhere that gives electric twitches.

Bon voyage to the Breeds who will be sadly missed for a while. See the rest of you somewhere in the wilds of Bedfordshire and hopefully next Tuesday.

Thanks Mr. Kippling – your writing talents are beyond compare and your cakes are pretty wonderful too. Tally Ho! She

The stately limousine sailed into sight like a swan upon an enchanted lake. The blue eye that is heaven became bedazzled by the occasion, even the golden beams of universal eternity dipped in homage. The line of voles, once ordinary looking, became unworthy in the instant. The conveyance glided to a halt. The door opened. Hearts that only seconds ago had been pounding chests for freedom were now in suspended animation and inexplicably in mouths agog in anticipation. And then there she was. Serenely climbing down the stepladders (which had been thoughtfully placed out of view of the cameras), she emerged onto the immediately hallowed turf of SSNR [By Appointment to Her Right Royaltiness the Lady Youthfulness].

The appointed Dave stepped forward and humbled himself. An unfortunate occurrence given the magnitude of the occasion. The reserve Dave stepped into the breach. Another unfortunate occurrence! Finally the ‘if all else fails’ Dave came to the rescue.

Bowing so low it made his eyes water he addressed her Supreme Being: “Your Majestyness, if I may be so humbly bold as to..”

Her ladyship interrupted as only one of noble birth can: “Are you a Dimbleby Dave?”

‘If all else fails’ Dave: “Err no?”

Her Exquisiteness: “Then go away.” The nobility of the extended hand flutter in Dave’s direction and immediately he was dispatched as like a game bird on the 1st September.

Her Exquisite Ladyshipness: “My husband and I..” A half turn to the limo revealed a slight glitch. “Oh bother, I must have left him somewhere again. Never mind, I shall continue. Myself and I remember only too vividly the diem horribilis that was last week. But we must move on.”

So saying Her Supremeliness moved on proffering dainty dexterous digits for the gathered ensemble to pucker up their trembling lips to.

Her Regality: “Oh I say what an obnoxious hound.”

Several male voles looked even further ashamed and took several steps back towards oblivion.

Her Lady Regal Exquisiteness: “I was referring to the dog.”

The males voles teetered on the edge of the abyss that is ordinariness. One brave soul remarked: “That is Jock, a rescued dog, he was found in a large, handbag, with handles. He was probably brought up in it.”

Her Lady Ladyness:“ I must confess that I feel somewhat bewildered by what you have just told me. To be born, or at any rate bred in a handbag, whether it have handles or not, seems to me to display a contempt for the ordinary decencies of family life which reminds one of the worst excesses of the French revolution, and I presume you know what that unfortunate movement led to?

The voles shook their heads, a few too vigorously causing them to fall off!

Brave Soul: “ Err yessum your womanliness. We believe he lost his parents and so we’ve adopted him like.”

Her Lady Ladyshipness: “To lose one parent, my good man, may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose both looks like carelessness.”

Little old lady with straw sticking out from under one arm (One Arm!!!!): He’s only being truthful you’re Omnipotence. He’s very earnest so he is and that’s what makes him so highly regarded by us all. ” Having said all this the little old lady retired to lie down until lunchtime.

Lady Youthfulness: “Well I suppose that’s the importance of being earnest.”

[I bet that’s made Oscar wild!]

Little old lady with straw sticking out from under one arm (One Arm!!!!): “Who’s Oscar?”

So many congratulation to Lady Sue on yet another birthday without a cake big enough to hold all the candles.

No doubt Mr Pitts will shortly be circulating a stunning array of pics so all who weren’t there today will see what the rest of us were up to. Basically following the Squire around, picking up loads of cut reeds (or in a little old lady’s case an odd bunch here and there!); carting them off to be burnt; telling the Squire not to go in the boggy bit; pulling the Squire out of the boggy bit!; showing the Squire were to cut next; sending out explorers to find where the Squire went!; telling the Squire it’s time to stop cutting; retelling the Squire it’s time to stop cutting; telling the local warden to stop telling the Squire to keep cutting!; getting bored of feeding the fire while the mound of cut reeds keeps growing; setting fire to the mound of cut reeds and blaming it on the person furthest away (Colin); eating muffins; eating biscuits (thanks Lillybeth); eating chocolate cake off the ground (thanks Maryla!); eating Jaffa cakes; moaning that there is no pudding!; moaning that Her Ladyship didn’t bring a birthday cake! and generally having fun.

Thanks to everyone who left early and didn’t stay to watch Jock walk across the ash (several times), try to make a ‘nest’ in the hot ash! (he dashed out pretty quick) and finally lie down in the ash!!!

Malcolm.

Third morning of a three-day backpacking trip out of Tuolumne Meadows, in Yosemite National Park! Hiked down to Glen Aulin and the Waterwheel Falls area on the first day, then headed up here and camped at Lower Young Lake (elev. 9800 ft).

The weather was...well, interesting. It poured on me on the way up to the lakes, clearing up just enough in time for the sunset. It rained again overnight and cleared up for a few hours in the morning...then thunderstorms the rest of the next day. It was pouring about an hour before I shot this! When you hear it's unpredictable up there, it's really true...you could tell it was perfectly clear down in the Valley.

But it only added to the experience, the mystery, the omnipotence of the granite peaks towering over the lake. For a little scale, the rock wall behind the lake (and reflected in it) is at least 1500 feet high.

I have another photo of the sunset itself, taken less than half an hour after this. It's in my photostream somewhere not too far from this one.

There are three main Young Lakes, aptly (but, alas, not creatively) named Lower, Middle, and Upper. This is the lower lake at 9800'. I hadn't run into another person in hours. Amazingly quiet.

My campsite was 100 feet from here...I could learn to live like this :)

So, I'm wandering in the big lonesome corners of the Ritz (imagine how one finds a lonesome corner in a fully booked hotel :) lol) As I wander from the daytime hotspots to explore the forbidden corners I stumble onto what felt like a scene from the SHINING! I enter a desolate restaurant...I tiptoe just in case...enveloped by silence and warmth of this, my new dark place. The only source of light shed from huge picturesque windows. It's a perfect contrast because, for whatever reason, it's appears as though the suns light is honoring the boundaries of the glass...then surmising instead, it's the depth and darkness of outnumbering shadows swallowing the light. Clarity in these juxtapositions . I'm now enthralled with massive twin beams of hazy sunlight that crossed this proverbial border. This spotlight does not appear to lighten the wooded room...rather assists my eyes in seeing, subsequently appreciating the darkness in which I stand. I revel in this, my fantastic delusion of omnipotence ... And as I part, at the behest of the real physical world, I see this piano and think, "hmmmmm, now who can play the piano in my realm?"

Novena to the Child Mary

Holy Child Mary of the royal house of David, Queen of the angels, Mother of grace and love, I greet you with all my heart. Obtain for me the grace to love the Lord faithfully during all the days of my life. Obtain for me, too, a great devotion to you, who are the first creature of God's love.

HAIL MARY

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.

O heavenly Child Mary, who like a pure dove was born immaculate and beautiful, true prodigy of the wisdom of God, my soul rejoices in you. Oh! Do help me to preserve the angelic virtue of purity at the cost of any sacrifice.

Hail Mary

Hail, lovely and holy Child, spiritual garden of delight, where, on the day of the Incarnation, the tree of life was planted, assist me to avoid the poisonous fruit of vanity and pleasures of the world. help me to engraft into my soul the thoughts, feelings and virtues of your divine Son.

Hail Mary

Hail, admirable Child Mary, Mystical Rose, closed garden, open only to the heavenly Spouse. O Lily of paradise, make me love the humble and hidden life; let the heavenly Spouse find the gate of my heart always open to the loving calls of His graces and inspiration.

Hail Mary

Holy Child Mary, mystical dawn, gate of heaven, you are my trust and hope. O powerful advocate, from your cradle stretch out your hand, support me on the path of life. Make me serve God with ardor and constancy until death and so reach and eternity with you.

Hail Mary

Blessed Child Mary, destined to be the Mother of God and our loving Mother, by the heavenly graces you lavish upon us, mercifully listen to my supplications. In the needs which press upon me from every side and especially in my present tribulation, I place all my trust in you. O holy Child, by the privileges granted to you alone and by the merits which you have acquired, show that the source of spiritual favors and the continuous benefits wich you dispense are inexhaustible, because your power with the Heart of God is unlimited.

Deign through the immense profusion of graces with which the Most High has enriched you from the first moment of your Immaculate Conception, grant me, O Celestial Child, my petition, and I shall eternally praise the goodness of your Immaculate Heart. Amen.

I spend a lot of today reading my Intro to Communications book. I've got a quiz that I need to take soon so I wanted to make sure I studied. I missed class today since I'm on vacation, which stinks. I feel like I've missed some valuable information but a big "thank you" goes out to my classmate Rebecca for sending me the notes!

For the remainder of the day, my mom and I went shopping at Mongoose Junction in Cruz Bay. I got bracelets from Bamboo for Mikey, Josh, and myself. They're really cool. They symbolize the omnipotence, omnipresence, and immortality of God. I also got a sterling silver mermaid ring from Freebird. It's pretty neat.

From Strength To Strength

"For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh." [Galatians 5:17]

In every believer’s heart there is a constant struggle between the old nature and the new. The old nature is very active, and loses no opportunity of plying all the weapons of its deadly armoury against newborn grace; while on the other hand, the new nature is ever on the watch to resist and destroy its enemy. Grace within us will employ prayer, and faith, and hope, and love, to cast out the evil; it takes unto it the “whole armour of God,” (Eph.6:11) and wrestles earnestly. These two opposing natures will never cease to struggle so long as we are in this world. The battle of “Christian” with “Apollyon” (Rev.9:11) lasted three hours, but the battle of Christian with himself lasted all the way from the Wicket Gate to the river Jordan. The enemy is so securely entrenched within us that he can never be driven out while we are in this body: but although we are closely beset, and often in sore conflict, we have an Almighty helper, even Jesus, the Captain of our salvation, who is ever with us, and who assures us that we shall eventually come off more than conquerors through Him. With such assistance the new-born nature is more than a match for its foes. Are you fighting with the adversary today? Are Satan, the world, and the flesh, all against you? Be not discouraged nor dismayed. Fight on! For God Himself is with you; Jehovah Nissi is your banner, and Jehovah Rophi is the healer of your wounds. Fear not, you shall overcome, for who can defeat Omnipotence? Fight on, “looking unto Jesus;” (Heb.12:2) and though long and stern be the conflict, sweet will be the victory, and glorious the promised reward. “From strength to strength go on; Wrestle, and fight, and pray, Tread all the powers of darkness down, And win the well-fought day.” (1) Hallelujah, God bless

(1) Soldier of Christ - Charles Wesley

Morning Charles H. Spurgeon

Richard Dawkins wrote a best selling atheistic book called "The God Delusion."

This is about another sort of God Delusion.

Ed Milliband, the Climate Change Minister for New Labour, said ~

"It is socially unacceptable to be against wind turbines in your area ~

like not wearing your seat belt or driving past a Zebra crossing."

That is not an argument. It is a god like dictum which does not bear contradiction.

I hope that I will not disturb the faith of Ed Milliband or his acolytes,

but I must say that this is a delusion.

ED MILLIBAND IS NOT GOD.

BELIEF IN HIS OMNIPOTENCE IS JUST ANOTHER GOD DELUSION.

This was for sale today on eBay.

We know that God is everywhere; but certainly we feel His presence most when His works are on the grandest scale spread before us; and it is in the unclouded night-sky, where His worlds wheel their silent course, that we read clearest His infinitude, His omnipotence, His omnipresence.

Lord Vishnu represents the aspect of the Supreme Reality that preserves and sustain the universe, although there are variations in images and pictures of Lord Vishnu, he is generally symbolized by a human body with four arms. In his hands he carries a conch (shankha), a mace (gada) and a discus (chakra). He wears a crown, two earrings, a garland (mala) of flowers and a gem around the neck. He has a blue body and wear yellow clothes. The lord is shown standing on a seven headed snake (shesha nag) and the snake stand with its hoods open over the head of the lord.

The four arms indicate Lord’s omnipresence and omnipotence. The two front arms signify the lord’s activity in the physical world and the two back arms signify his activity in the spiritual world. The right side of the body represents the creative activities of the mind and the intellect. The left side symbolizes the activities of the heart, i.e. love, kindness and compassion.

This piece is made of brass and given dual shades of light and dark colors to highlight the excellent workmanship.

Title: Buddhist Guardian Figure (Dvarapala)

Classification: Sculpture

Work Type: sculpture, figure

Date: 7th century

Places: Creation Place: East Asia, China, Hebei province

Period: Tang dynasty, 618-907

Culture: Chinese

Throughout Asia, Buddhist temples are protected from malevolent spirits by various guardian figures, some local, others universal. In fact, many Buddhist monks were renowned for their ability to convert local spirits into protectors of the Buddha’s teachings. This figure is one of a pair of universally protective deities known in Chinese as Renwang, or “benevolent kings.” Clad in loincloths and scarves, with the fierce demeanors and muscular bodies of Central Asian warriors, they were placed at the gates of East Asian temples to protect the sacred precincts. One member of this pair is depicted with an open mouth, as though pronouncing the Sanskrit syllable ah; the other (seen here), with mouth closed, seems to intone the syllable hum. Like the Greek letters alpha and omega in Christian doctrine, these syllables represent the beginning and end of the cosmos in Buddhist theology. This figure likely would have held a vajra, a scepter signifying omnipotence.

I photographed a copy of this letter in a display at Fort Gaines in Mobile, AL. I believe this is the most beautiful love letter ever written. "Sarah my love for you is deathless. It seems to bind me with mighty cables that nothing but Omnipotence can break. " Can you imagine a love this strong? "The memory of all the blissful moments I have enjoyed with you come crowding over me, and I feel most deeply grateful to God and you that I have enjoyed them so long. And how hard it is for me to give them up and burn to ashes the hopes of future years" Did he have a feeling of his upcoming death? Today so often people marry and divorce over and again. Till death do us part seems to have no meaning anymore. How he must have loved her and how much pain did he feel that his time with her was over? "when my last breath escapes me on the battlefield, it will whisper your name." "Sarah do not mourn me dead: Think I am gone and wait for me for we shall meet again." Although this letter was never mailed but was collected with his belongings at some point after the battle Sarah did wait for him. She was only 24 when he died, she lived to be 80 years old. She never remarried and is buried next to her husband. I hope that in time she received this letter and that for the remainder of her days soft breezes fanned her cheeks and the cool air touched her temples.

"Surrealism. Noun, masc. Pure psychic automatism by which one tries to express verbally, in writing, or by any other method, the actual process of thinking. Thought-dictation without any control exercised by reason, beyond any aesthetic or ethical consideration.

Encyclopedia. Philosophy. Surrealism is based on the belief in the superior reality of certain heretofore neglected forms of associations, in the omnipotence of the dream, in the free-wheeling play of thought. It wants to bring about the ultimate destruction of all other psychic mechanisms and put itself in their place in order to solve the primary problems of life. (Schneede, 1973:21; Ades dalam Stangos, 1995:124)."

Lagi, kata kunci dari manifesto ini adalah psychic automatism (otomatisme psikis).

So here is the image, my text to come soon. Got some great shots at the Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago and I'll post them as well, but I think this one captures my own form of omnipotence quite nicely (and probably is the most "technically perfect" out of the roll I shot).

Google "omnipotence defense" and you'll receive a whole host of definitions. A quick search yielded this one, which I think I like: "The individual deals with emotional conflict or internal or external stressors by feeling or acting as if he or she possesses special powers or abilities and is superior to others." Read any psychological theory and this word is thrown around like everyone completely understands this idea. I get it in a large picture, holistic kinda way, but to pin it down to a precise definition seems impossible.

I entered this shoot with my definition unconsciously guiding my composition and location. This church wasn't even the first choice I had in mind; I couldn't connect with the location's contact on my day off. And, this image wasn't even my first pick. The outtake in my photostream is the one I originally choose, but after some editing I decided it really didn't fit my personality; i.e., it didn't represent the way I use omnipotence as a defense. I am not gloriously vain, showy or godlike (like that outtake) when challenged or made uncomfortable--but I am quietly smug, keeping my supposed superior skills "appropriately" humble. ;) This image seems to get that.

The large round glass window high above the main altar with the Hebrew Jehova Tetragram symbolizes God's omnipotence and simultaneously, through its warm yellow tone, God's love.

The high altar painting portraying the ascension of the saint was conceptualized by Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach and executed by Ferdinand Maximilian Brokoff.

Rev. Leslie Booker at the African Burial Grounds Monument in front ot Gye Nyame the symbol of the omnipotence of God

Friday, I went to the African Burial Grounds National Monument to photograph a very good friend. While waiting, I decided to walk through the site, and try to look for new angles and get new ideas of how to handle the shoot. During this process numerous people also visited the Monument, looking, reading, reflecting. Of these many people, I struck up a conversation with two sisters, and asked the younger one if she wouldn’t mind me photographing her and her sister on site.

Reluctantly she agreed, but stated that she would ask her sister. I volunteered to ask her myself, and I walked over to the elder sister, who was now seated, to be photographed. The elder sister agreed, however after further consideration the younger sister withdrew her consent to be photographed mentioning that she really did not like taking pictures, especially at this time. Recognizing that she was going through a personally difficult time, (it appeared to me, that she was possibly going through some loss,) I did not push the issue. We must all grieve in the way that makes sense to us.

The elder sister, however got up immediately to be photographed, and I asked her if there was any single symbol that resonated with her. Without hesitation she said “Yes” and we went immediately to the symbol. It was the Akan adinkra symbol “Gye Nyame” which means “Unless God”, which implies the full phrase “Unless God [is against you, you cannot fail].” This symbolizes the omnipotence of God. We spoke for a few moments as I was photographing her. At the end, I got the email address of the elder sister in order to forward her the photographs, thanked them both, and the sisters left.

Unexpectedly, the younger sister who had declined the invitation to be photographed returned, and mentioned that I looked very familiar to them. She noted that I looked like “Nobody specific, but you look very familiar.” We talked for few moments more, trying to figure out if we had grown up in the same area, went to the same schools, attended the same function, but could not figure out any connection. After exhausting the possibilities, once again we bid each other “Goodbye.”

After looking at the contact information for the elder sister, I noted her name, Booker. Could it be? No, I don’t think so. It can’t be. I will email her the photographs, and share this link with her, but my oldest living cousin reached 100 a couple of weeks earlier. Her married name is Booker. Could we be related? Life is strange and full of surprises.

A wooden decorative Royal Arch Masons Triple Tau.

I once spoke on the reality of the promises of God. Often we do not understand these promises. They seem too lofty and beyond our comprehension, and so we lay them aside without really giving the serious thought. But that is not God’s intention. He is back of every promise with His love and His omnipotence, and He was in great earnest when He made them. Therefore I believe that we are sinning when we ignore them or perhaps evade them by theologizing them away.
