Passover falls on the full moon of the month, so Jesus and the disciples might have seen the streams of blood from the sacrificed lambs, in the Kidron Valley as they walked to the Mt. of Olives from the upper room where they ate the passover. And seeing the blood might have reminded them of the first Passover when the blood of the Lamb saved them from the Angel of Death. They would also remember that on this night Adonai kept vigil for His people to bring them out of Egypt, and in turn they are to keep vigil in honor of the Lord (Ex. 12:42). It became known as "leil shemarim" or 'the night of watching' as they remembered what the Destroyer does, and watch to see what Adonai will do.
Jesus felt the levity of this night as he asked his disciples to "watch and pray" with him (Matt. 26:38-31 & Mark 14:34 & Luke 22:40). If the Destroyer is on the prowl who could fall asleep?
The olive branch is a symbol of peace, sometimes seen clutched in the beak of a dove.
Ours will soon have full olives on it that will then drop & make a mess of the front yard & driveway!
It's an olive tree...by a small old harbour or shipyard, near a beautiful restaurant, facing salt brine, in Sečovlje, you wouldn't believe the fantastic smell of the sea here...heaven on earth...here: kraji.eu/slovenija/rt_seca/IMG_2108_rt_seca_parkirisce_go...
Delighting in my fascination with the olive trees, two comical Babushkas (with no spoken Hebrew or English) ran up and began physically positioning my entire body-- limb by limb--in all sorts of funny poses around this tree.
...Quite amusing to have two enthusiastic old ladies forcefully bolstering my leg up, twisting my torso, tilting my head/arms, and ordering me in Russian I don't understand...all for a picturesque photo!

Pretty shocking pruning of this olive tree in the parking lot of OSH. You can see another unpruned olive tree in the background.
