Ordinarily, this field in Cherokee Park is full of people on a warm, Spring evening like tonight. But today is Derby Day in Louisville, Kentucky, and people tend to gather with friends and families for parties and backyard barbecues. Cherokee Park was almost empty.
The cemetery, established in 1874, is terraced into the hillside on the north end of what remains of Gardiner, Oregon, on Old Highway 101. Most of the headstones are quite old and some are struggling with the elements and the passage of time. These gravestones belong, for the most part, to the early pioneers of the area. Steep cement paths lead visitors to the graves of founding citizens and their descendants, children who never made it to adulthood due to the rigors of pioneer life, and others can be found there.
The bark of an ancient tree in the grounds of the police training college in Bramshill, Hampshire. Its a beautiful place set in acres of land with white deer, ponds, wildlife and wonderful ancient trees. I always take my camera when I go to a meeting there :)
An old tree at the Conejo Creek North Park in Thousand Oaks, California by Janns Exit on HWY 23 near the Thousand Oaks Library.
Another view of the Church through the trees.
I'm not Catholic but I love to go visit the Abby from time to time. The monks are bee keepers and their honey is legendary and inexpensive. Since one of my hobbies is home brewing Mead an inexpensive supply of rich honey is right up my alley.
Looking through some old photos I came across these shots of old trees in the woods close to our house. They were taken in 2006 with my old Fuji camera.
The moonlight on this landscape and the stars in the sky. Enjoy the calm of this picture. Imagine this atmosphere.
2009.06.16. This tree is brought to you by the letter "U". An old tree with a unique shape. I can imagine old west lawmen using this tree as a Hanging Tree. Straightened, cropped resized in CS4. Color adjustments and settings using Spyder Cube in ACR. DRH_4797 © 2009.
what a wonderful old oak tree. The sign says it was 143 years old already when the Constitution of the US was signed. They believe the tree started life in 1644.
