The path ahead. Another view of Roseberry Topping in the North York Moors National Park.

An old tree with a creature like face feature in its trunk.

On old, dead tree in its final dance pose, looking over the vast landscape below.

What can I say. Up jumped beauty, in the guise of a decaying stump. The ferns helped, as did the evening light.

Seen while walking around the gardens of Heligan on a lovely summer's day

Photo is not perfect but I liked the pose !!

When people rave about the Keys it is not about the beaches. This is a good example of a Keys beach scene from the Atlantic side. Generally the beaches here are very natural or “primitive”. We don’t import fake sand. You wouldn’t want to take your shoes off and go for a stroll. In addition, wading out in the shallow water can be dicey. There are a number of spots where the shallow sea floor is soft like muck and will swallow your shoes. I’m not painting a pretty picture. I’m just saying if the beach is important to you, Miami is the place to be.

This was the scene from tonight shortly after sunset. Paddling home under the Milky Way is always a memorable experience.

I love this park because they have wonderful trees, and a great riverwalk from which to watch the sunset. The bonus is the drum circle which I believe gathers every Sunday. This one was much larger, more drums, than others I've had the pleasure to experience. I'm crazy about drums, and love hearing them bid farewell to the sun!

We had a nice moon this night at the Ancient Bristlecone Pines. We demonstrated our night photography and light painting techniques to our students.

This is a five minute exposure to get the star trails and then we light painted the trees in the final 30 seconds. Nikon D300 with 18-200mm lens. With a bright moon, you can take an almost daylight photograph, except you can have stars in the sky.

If you are interested in learning about night photography and light painting at the Bristlecones and for the rare opportunity for night photography at the Historic Ghost Town of Bodie in California's Eastern High Sierras in June, 2013, send me a Flickr mail for details on our upcoming workshop.

A large panorama of the beautiful Ficus of the Mazones in Almoradi Spain. This lovely tree is more than a century old and displays beautiful twists and shapes when you get right underneath the dome shaped canopy.

This is a 10 image stitched panorama (actually 20 images because each frame was shot at two different exposures to try to balance the highlights and shadows

An old broken tree clinging on for dear life at the edge of a disused quarry.

very old and original.

This lovely old arching Black Walnut tree at my brother's house has stood through the years as his 6 kids grew up and brought back kids of their own to play in the yard.

Sandbanks Provincial Park.

... as well as a different monument!

It was shortly after taking these shots I decided there was no point in trying to avoid having the tourists in my photos.

It is considered an honor and a blessing to feed the Monks - early each day they leave their temples to go to the people to feed them and return quickly to the quietness of their service life... also learned the longer the Monk has been in - the bigger the bowl ...Chiang Mai - Old City what a fascinating place

This set of images were taken in a remote park in Osceola County and is not widely known. I only saw about one third of it but you can bet I'll go back again.

I moved a little to the left from my view point seen in the last photo posted from this shoot to get this image with the old dead tree in the foreground. Shooting vertical eliminated some of the very busy, cluttered foreground. I also think the symmetry with the repeated V shape from the old tree to the drop off V, then the distant V in the wall on the opposite side of the valley is cool too. Thank you Georgia O'Keeffe.

Prop roots appearing from a hole in the Peepal ( Ficus religiosa) tree trunk

An old tree rises, its trunk split into several arms reaching toward the sky. At its base, a thick carpet of fallen leaves covers the ground, blending ochre, brown, and golden yellow. Around it, lush vegetation sways in golden light filtered through the branches. In the background, reddening foliage and mauve shadows contrast with the brightness of the foreground. The whole scene evokes an autumn stage, both vibrant and silent, deeply rooted in the earth.

Today I went out and took some pictures of my sister and my dog! I'm really excited about how they turned out, and thank you to my sister who posed in a sundress while it was -7 degrees out!
