Wildflowers are booming again at Catherine Creek, so early this year! I have plenty of shots of the flowers as well but I wanted to share this one because of the hearts that I see! :) Thinking of all the amazing Flickr Friends who helped me get my beginnings as a photographer.. you all helped me build my skills and confidence and I will never forget that!
I wanted to tag just a few of you who made a big difference in my life in many ways, but got overwhelmed by the number of tags and was afraid I might miss someone! Those of you who helped me the most know darn well I mean you, sending you hugs!

The Rosskopf surely gets photographed frequently because he's at the lower part of »Großer Ahornboden«. Nonetheless, I like that scene with the old tree taken with a Sinar p2 (some shift for control of perspective).
The photo was taken on slide film and drum scanned with Heidelberg Tango.

This is a pretty big canvas 30x 30 inches,While walking thru a field searching for a place that touches my soul to paint, after about a half hour or so, wow I saw this old huge tree with a old wooden fence around the base, I had to try and tackle this subject, first off I started off real slow trying to get a feel for the tree and a few old farmhouses in the background, after about 20 mins my excitement could no longer be contained like a lion wanting to bust out of a cage, I started throwing paint on like a madman, using my paint brush, then palette knife when the effect was no longer useful I started using my fingers, towards the end of the painting I was using a handful of weeds to get a cool scratching look,Im glad my art teacher didnt see me using such methods Im sure he would of threw me out of class, hell he might of threw me straight into the nut house,it got to a point if I ruined the canvas I didn't care I was expressing my self to the fullest one step below madness after a couple of hours I took a step backwards and thought this could be my best painting I ever did or the worst, its kind of confusing when a painter finishes a painting and doesn't know if the painting is good or not, O well at least I had a good time out in the fields painting with a fury, and humming with Bach in my headphones,Well my friends time to take a nice long hot shower, relax with a good meal consisting of a Peppercorn Flat Iron Steak a 10 oz. steak chargrilled served on a bed of sautéed onions, and portabella mushrooms, topped with black peppercorn butter, and fresh vegetables.and for dessert An extra generous pecan brownie crowned with rich vanilla ice cream, drizzled with classic warm chocolate sauce and finished with chocolate shavings and whipped cream. A chocolate lover’s dream."O" I almost forgot and a couple of long island ice teas to wash it all down with,AAHHH as you can see tonight is going to be a good night, then when my head hits the pillow my thoughts will drift on tomorrows painting ,take care everyone and remember a day without painting is a wasteful day indeed,Cheers, Steve, H.

She was a beauty--a gold 45 goddess for sure! A Gold 45 Goddess exalts the archetypal form of Athena--the Greek Goddess of wisdom, warfare, strategy, heroic endeavour, handicrafts and reason. A Gold 45 Goddess guards the beauty of dx4/dt=ic and embodies 45SURF's motto "Virtus, Honoris, et Actio Pro Veritas, Amor, et Bellus, (Strength, Honor, and Action for Truth, Love, and Beauty," and she stands ready to inspire and guide you along your epic, heroic journey into art and mythology. It is Athena who descends to call Telemachus to Adventure in the first book of Homer's Odyssey--to man up, find news of his true father Odysseus, and rid his home of the false suitors, and too, it is Athena who descends in the first book of Homer's Iliad, to calm the Rage of Achilles who is about to draw his sword so as to slay his commander who just seized Achilles' prize, thusly robbing Achilles of his Honor--the higher prize Achilles fought for. And now Athena descends once again, assuming the form of a Gold 45 Goddess, to inspire you along your epic journey of heroic endeavour.

Forrest fairy! Wood nymph! Dancing ballet beside an old tree and creek!
I’d be lying if I said the view in this photo didn’t move me, even just a little. One tree stands on the shore, while the other, lifeless, lies submerged in the water. I named the photo Silent Lament because, to me, it reflects the striking contrast between life and transience. The water further enhances the sense of silence and melancholy. I hope you’ll like it too.
Such personality this tree has. I wondered if it had been in a tornado or just broken in a storm. How much would it have to say if it could talk by anything other than how it looks?
This is a straight out of the camera B&W shot using the in camera red filter setting. There is absolutely NO post-processing! See below for more details on this oak.

dall’ampia e folta vegetazione.
come combustibile.
comprendere all’ufficiale quale grave sacrilegio sarebbe stato
dintorni."

It's one of the most beautiful oaks in Italy for its flat foliage and the horizontal and twisted development of its very long branches. According to a legend this anomalous development should be attributed to the many meetings organized there by the withches. This wonderful tree is located in the Park of Villa Carrara (the visit is free to everybody despite the private property) near Gragnano in the municipality of Capannori (Lucca, Tuscany, Italy).
Capodaca (the major expert of monumental trees in Italy) tells us an interesting episode of the history of this monumental oak:
"During the war, also Villa Carrara was occupied by a unit of German
tank division, and the foliage of the oak was used as a parking area
for the tanks, because of the camouflage offered by the large
foliage. However, when leaving, the German commander, with no regard
or gratitude for the wonderful oak, decided to cut it to use its wood
as combustible. Fortunately the wife of the owner, the Carrara lawyer,
which had very good knowledge of the German language, stepped in in
favor of the oak. The woman was able to make the officier how
sacrilegious would have been to cur this natural wonder and convinced
him to circumvent the problem by using the many oaks in the
neighborhoods."

We visited George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate in the beautiful State of Virginia.
This historic landmark was Washington’s home as well as his resting place.
This tall old pecan tree (Carya illinoinensis) is thought by historians to be one of the pecans given to Washington by Thomas Jefferson.

This gnarly old tree trunk seems like the perfect place for a Wizard to rest his/her aching bones doesn't it?
Original artwork done in tempera paint. This improbable scene [a tree growing on a bare rock ledge] was actually inspired by a huge old Sycamore that really did grow on a ledge, and I really did see its white branches, lit by the rising sun, against a dark sky. Never will forget that sight!
I was exploring abandoned railroad tracks near my home, when I looked over and saw this nicely textured tree, dead for decades, with a pole through its trunk. Walking railroad tracks, for Midwesterners, is like "beach-combing," an opportunity to explore, because you never know what you'll find!
