Olde Worlde Lamppost in the Gloucestershire village of Stanton which lies close to the border with Worcestershire.
Shot while sitting in some (very welcome) shade in Chester Cathedral's grounds. It topped 82 degrees there, yesterday
I shot this beautifully carved sign opposite The Calleva Arms pub, during a summer evening performance by the Hook Eagles Morris and Fleet Morris dancing sides.
The sign is situated outside the Silchester Village Hall and features the church of St Mary the Virgin.

This HDR photo is dedicated to Beryl who is retiring after many years working at Bantock House Tea Rooms in Wolverhampton, I am a regular visitor at lunch times and she has always greeted me with a smile and a chat and on many occasions has cheered me up when I have felt a bit down, I wish her many years of happy retirement, I shall miss her very much.

In the morning mist, a spirited departure from Arley railway station by Standard Class 5MT steam engine 73129 on the Severn Valley Railway (SVR). The locomotive was carrying the headboard Pines Express for the 7.10 a.m. service from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth in Shropshire, England. It's not often you find a pub/restaurant that serves proper homemade food, and in a lovely cosy atmosphere, but I recently dined out one evening at this lovely old pub/hotel in the village of Boxworth, Cambridgeshire. I have to say that the meal I ordered was absolutely delicious, and everybody was so friendly. A really nice place to visit if you're ever in or near Cambridge.

Another trip to the font of everlasting life for this rider was the order of the day, this time the enchanting Old Bush serves the elixir, there was no need for Sean Connery and Harrison Ford to ever go bungling their ways across the middle east in The Last Crusade, they shoulda just jumped on the first train out of Euston to Shrewsbury - and watch some football while they're sipping.

Cruck frame half-timbered thatched cottage on the main road passing through Dymock.
Pevsner suggests this cottage dates from the 15th century.
28 January 2013. A row of old Cotswold stone cottages in Burford, Oxfordshire, England, UK.
A Year in Pictures image 28 of 365.
Manor Cottages located at the village of Freefolk, near Whitchurch, Hampshire England
Part of one of the longest thatched terrace of roofs in England.
The distinctive HEMM hat, with pheasant feathers, fox tail (fake, in this case) badges and Healey's also has a Union Jack flag added for good measure!
The Bagpuss Chair - just an old, saggy leather chair, baggy, and a bit loose at the seams, but we love it.
Used a tripod and two very low power output flashes, on board nd sb600, just to put enough light onto this side of chair to be able to pull some detail back, really wanted main light to seem to be the table lamp - I think its worked.

This is the impressive Smugglers Creek. A pub, bar and restaurant with one of the most impressive views I've seen from a bar restaurant in the UK.
Nestling on cliffs overlooking the beautiful Rossnowlagh Beach, with a seafaring theme, stone walls, timber floors and beams it has a rustic old world charm. The inn has won many awards for it's food, drink and Craic. Awards including Donegal Black and White Pub of the Year '94, '95, '96, '97, and Ulster Pub '94, '96, '97 and '99 of the Year and All Ireland Seafood Pub of the year award 1999.
All comments very welcome indeed.

Woods Cottage, one of several thatched cottages in the village.
Probably 15th or early 16th century.
Grade II listed building.

On the seafront overlooking Tankerton Slopes. Probably 1930s and with a bit of everything olde worlde.
Unusually the house and garden occupy a double-width plot. Each time I visit Tankerton I'm relieved to see them both still there - developers are busily nibbling away at other houses and gardens to meet overspill demand from fashionable Whitstable.

An old shot for an old shop.
Just a bit if fun, but couldn't resist it once the van rolled up.

The Hook Eagle Morris Men prepare to give it some stick.
Click on the photo to see it on black - much nicer!
Harrogate side street shot of an absolutely amazing old pub ; it is STILL gas-lit inside. Read about the famous 'Hales Bar', right here.
