Friends have continuously asked me the reasons for why I have always chosen to post the black and white pictures in my photo stream. Its because I just love it and I feel it brings more passion and explains the surrounding much better. Like people use to say "Old is Gold"
Location: Palace of Westminster, London
Old School Sears in Santa Monica, California, across the street from Santa Monica Place mall, by the looks of of it, it's really Art Deco, which I like, wish I had gone in, we just stopped to use the restrooms at Macy's, now a Bloomingdale's!
Got this off eBay for 192 bucks shipped last week and it finally arrived last night from California. It is a Burke & James Orbit 4x5 view camera... pretty much the same as the Calumet CC400 series of cameras, which are the same as the Kodak Master View 4x5s. It is probably along the lines of 40 to 50 years old now, as I think they stopped making them in the mid '60s. BUT, it looks like it hardly ever saw any rough use or handling. Almost no paint loss, a perfect bellows, and came with a case, light cover, and about a dozen 4x5 film holders.
The lens is a 135mm f/4.5 Yamasaki "CONGO" which I researched online and can be below-average to above-average in performance depending on your sample. It has a little bit of oil on the aperture blades, but the oil does not seem to impair its functioning. 135mm in 4x5 translates to about 40mm in full frame "35mm" format, so not quite as wide as I'd like, but I'll play around with it and if I don't like it, I figure I can probably sell it for what I paid for it, and if I do like it, maybe upgrade the lens to a better 90mm (which is more like 28mm in 35mm format). I plan on shooting some landscapes with it when Jen and I head down the Blue Ridge Parkway in the fall. It is heavy, so I don't suppose I'll be lugging it very far into the woods, but on some of the great Parkway overlooks, it'll be fun to shoot.
I should mention that this was once owned by a guy named John Sullivan of Fresno, California. His name and phone number are spray painted on the case in that old "cargo" style lettering and he has old fashioned plastic labels on every film back. I think the guy I bought it from was an estate dealer, so I suppose John has passed on. But his camera will continue going to good use! :)
In Louisville... I think the name comes from the fact that the spaghetti is old. At least thats how it tasted to me.
this iron junk was lying beside the road... the rusty machine after an afternoon shower was so "texture-ous" that i had to take this photograph... (hand-held HDR)
· 1941 Chevrolet, newly bought by my Dad and I.
· Taken on the Old Road in Santa Clarita, CA.
· I took this in my car, while driving.
· BEST VIEWED LARGE, ESPECIALLY ON BLACK.
· I strongly recommend viewing in high resolution.
...with a new look.
I don't have much to say about this, other than that I received a great honor recently at work and was toying around with some ideas on how to spend the bonus associated with it. In the end, I decided to create more work for myself by buying some photo editing software I couldn't otherwise afford.

A convenient opportunity to park my old diesel next to 2 other old diesels, in a small gathering of the oldest cars in this car park. Also a good opportunity for comparison between the pre and post facelift Mk3 Astra.
L-R My 1993 Vauxhall Astra LS TD, 1998 Ford Mondeo LX TD, 1995 Vauxhall Astra LS TD.
Mondeo seems to have a chrome trimmed Grille from a Ghia, and wheeltrims which I think are from a Fiesta Mk5.
The Old South Church played a significant role in early American history. Among other contributions, the Old South congregation baptized Benjamin Franklin on the day he was born in 1706 and his family members were prominent leaders. This may not be it's most significant contribution, but I do respect and admire Ben and am always pleased to learn more about him.
Bad rain today so not worth going out for me. Thought I would upload a set of 5 shots of the old Jetty @ Snettisham. We all take photos of it in it's various moods & tide states. first 3 taken with my Panasonic over several years, the last two taken in March this year with the P1000 just before I went into lockdown for 3 months!
This old Jetty was destroyed in the very big tidal surge January 1953 & is slowly getting worn down by the big seas when we have another storm. I do have an album of shots of this jetty over several years entitled "In memory of January 31st !953"
