At the Harbour of Morro Jable, Fuerteventura, in a corner along a dead-end road, was this old boat, mostly stripped, on oil drums and shored with scanty support.

It looked like it had been like this for quite some time; it became the centre of attention for Paul and me.

A wooden boat, once somebody’s dream, pride and joy was now abandoned, made in the old tradition, it must have been painted different colours over time but the last was definitely Bleu Ciel! Most of its timbers now bare and bleached.

This is the top of the bow, the prow with maybe a humorous view on a figurehead.

Exploring around it, I could not find a name anymore, yet somehow, to me, the name Ahab seemed fitting.

"When that wicked king was slain, the dogs, did they not lick his blood?" (Moby-Dick, Chap. 16)!

To me it looks like the face of a dog… an old salty sea-dog… yes I often see faces in things...

I stared at it for quite some time, mesmerised, dreaming of adventures at sea, all the spray it must have enjoyed, maybe the storms it had conquered...

I wish you all the best and thank you, M, (*_*)

Old Fashioned has definitely been my favorite cocktail the last couple of years.

How I made it:

>1 sugar cube

>6 dashes regular Angostura bitter

>3 dashes Angostura orange

>6cl bourbon, in this case, Woodford Reserve

>1 Orange peel (extracting oils from it)

>1 Luxardo Gourmet Maraschino Cherry for decoration

>1 Large clear ice cube

When I make an Old Fashioned I start with a sugar cube in the glass. Secondly, I use bitters, in this case, 6 dashes regular and 3 dashes of orange bitters and muddle it with the sugar cube. Thereafter I just add the bourbon, in this case, Woodford Reserve. Then I add a large, clear ice cube and stir the drink. I want a large and clear ice cube to get a slower dilution. Lastly, I take a large orange peel and extract the oils from it in the drink and decorate it with a maraschino cherry.

I have not been able to find any information on the history of these old buildings in Mount Barker, South Australia.

The curious arched structures at the base go right through to the other side. of the building.

The new extended walking traiI from Laratinga Wetlands, goes right past these fabulous old buildings, to the new sporting complex.

A street artist works on one of his many paintings at Place du Tertre, in the Montmartre district of Paris.

With its many artists setting up their easels each day for the tourists, the Place du Tertre is a reminder of the time when Montmartre was the mecca of modern art. At the beginning of the 20th century, many penniless painters including Picasso and Utrillo were living there.

All the year round, numerous painters and portraitists are working in this place to exhibit and sell their famous paintings. The artists who are allowed to put up their easels own a special concession that must be renewed by the city of Paris. These painters have one square meter to issue their paintings and must share this small space with another artist.

Le Montmartre - Place du Tertre L'Espace Salvador Dali, a museum principally dedicated to the sculpture and drawings of Salvador Dali, can be found a few steps from Place du Tertre.

Sulphur Mines, Paliorema, Milos, Cyclades, Greece.

On the east coast of the island, there's a small beach called Paleorema with crystal clear emerald water and yellowish pebbles from the sulphur of the area. Near the abandoned buildings of the Sulphur Mine that operated until 1957, you can still see wagons on the tracks, old rusty tools, machinery and spare parts in the wrecked storage rooms. It might be hard to believe by this description of industrial decay but, today, Paleorema is one the most secluded and beautiful beaches on Milos island.

I found this really old and weathered piano sitting, abandoned, outside of a vacant motel near Groseclose, VA. It made a great subject to photograph, even if it was a bit strange. I added a noise filter... does it help the effect?

The Old Leigh got its charm as an old picturesque fishing village in Essex, UK. It is located approximately 30 miles east of London, down the River Thames. The scenic character of Leigh comprises of fishing boats ,old buildings ,craft shops, pubs ,houses, wharfs ,marine industries , cockle sheds dotting along the shoreline and stretching to the high street .

The Domesday Book of 1086 has a record of Leigh as named "Legra", a small fishing hamlet. . Attributed to its better location along the shipping route to London, it flourished and by the 16th century it transformed as a relatively large and prosperous port.

Big ships of 340 tons are recorded as being built in Leigh, including

those for the local fishing fleets. Having its location at the mouth of the Thames, Leigh was often used by the navy against threats from pirates and the French, Spanish and Dutch Navies. The Mayflower is believed to have docked on this village to take on provisions and passengers before it's epic voyage to the new world with the Pilgrim Fathers.

By the 18th century trade has changed and ships being used were larger .

Also at this period Leigh's deep water channel silted up and the significance of the town had reduced . It then gradually reverted to a fishing village, supplying the London market by road and barge .
