This is a view from Old Street Railway Station to City Road, London.
The very tall building is the Atlas Building, 145 City Road. To the left and producing something of a geometrical illusion is the Montcalm Hotel. The red brick building is Imperial hall.
When we caught the tube at Bank having walked from Monument the weather above ground was wet to say the least but reaching street level at Old Street station everything was bathed in clear spring sunshine, hence the deep blue sky which was an amazing contrast.
Yesterday evening, I returned to an old favorite spot.
I had not been back since October 29, 2019.
" Anything that is in the world when you’re born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works.
Anything that's invented between when you’re fifteen and thirty-five is new and exciting and revolutionary and you can probably get a career in it.
Anything invented after you're thirty-five is against the natural order of things.
We are stuck with technology when what we really want is just stuff that works."
- Douglas Adams, The Salmon of Doubt
An old lady connecting with a friendly black cockatoo in the tropical aviary at the Adelaide Zoo. He flies down from the trees and sits on the wooden railing to talk to his special friends.
I had the pleasure of patting him and he nibbled at my necklace from behind as I sat on the bench in front of his perch.
Old Town Geneva, Switzerland, is a wonderful place to explore during the holidays. There are many great restaurants, antique stores, pubs, and old bookstores here!

A shot from the archives, this is the old fisherman's church from Fiskebäckskil. Built in 1772, not a bombastic cathedral but I think it is beautiful. I tried to get inside, but it was full of German tourists, so I couldn't get any descent shot of the roof paintings. But I am going back this summer to get some more shots of the interior, and this time I am bringing my tripod..
This is a shot I took of my son Noah holding an old Polaroid Camera, I took this image with my Canon 70D.
Bonsecours Market (Marché Bonsecours), at 350 rue Saint-Paul in Old Montreal, is a two-story domed public market. For more than 100 years, it was the main public market in the Montreal area. It also briefly accommodated the Parliament of United Canada for one session in 1849. (wikipedia)
I caught this blue hour scene during my visit to Montreal a while back.
Strolling through Pamplona this afternoon, I grabbed my favorite camera, the old but marvelous Nikon D3. What memories and sensations this camera brings me every time I use it. I must be getting old, but a mirrorless camera doesn't convey the same feelings to me. They have many more functions, but the essence of what photography is gets lost.
This old Ford truck must be between 90 to 100 years old - but he sure looked spiffy sitting in the warm spring sunshine in Haines Alaska. If only he could talk - what tales he could tell. I'd like to ask him how he got all the way to the tiny and remote village, and what happened along the way. I'll bet it would be a darned interesting story.
Finally I've had time to get around to editing some of my archives and I found so many photos I love that I'd skipped over :-)
This picture was taken in a small village at Sunamganj Sylhet Bangladesh. The main occupation of the villagers was hunting. Due to climate change, over hunting, shrink in jungle and introduction of new hunting laws, hunting becomes very difficult. Most of the people have switched their profession. Last few remaining hunters passes time cherishing old memory.
