Greg Brown is a painter and native of Palo Alto, California, best known for his trompe l'oeil murals in the San Francisco Bay area. He sprang into national prominence with his "Pedestrian series of 1976." The project included 9 trompe l'oeil figures/vignettes sprinkled throughout the downtown area of Palo Alto, California. Well, I guess I can deem this project a success. One of my photos officially made it onto an art gallery wall! The opening reception was tonight, and it was a juried show with a ton of entrants, and mine got selected to go on the wall, along with 47 other amazing artists.
I can't help but think part of it was that the dimensions of the piece are quite small, so it fit nicely onto the wall. But still... pretty amazing!
The best part is that every Monday until the end of the year, as I sip my beer after an ACT UP meeting, I can look at my art on the wall!

Got a chance to shoot on the North Shore today and decided to head to the Pipeline-Backdoor-Off-the-wall area, instead of watching the surf contest finals at Haleiwa. Some folks out here today were tearing holes in the waves and I tried diligently to capture that action. I was using a slower shutter speed for most of the shots and trying to show the motion and ferocity of these surfers. Here are a few of the results... I went shopping with my brother and his girlfriend today and got new vans! They're so beast. Haha :)

My computer is dead... so while it is getting fixed I have crappy cell phone images to share! But aren't my new Vans rockin? Old Skool baby-EEE.
I flew solo as a kid, still do in a way. but back in the day, when I say I flew solo, I mean that I didn't have any friends. My imagination was my refuge. When I did interact with kids at school, it was usually on a competitive basis, and with 2 older brothers, I was equipped with the fire to compete from a very young age. The wall you see here was where my schoolmates and I played "off-the-wall". Not sure what other people know it as... but it was played with a tennis ball and it was equally fun and vicious. i guess it was a way for me to fight back at the perceived cruelty... maybe that toughness gave way to pure childhood fun, but I doubt it... i get nothing but bad vibes from this place.

6.25.11 King of Pop B-), what can yah say? Easily one of my biggest influences in dance n' i'm sure i speak for a lotta folks when I say that. All the crazy stuff w/ his personal life aside, his music were masterpieces for past present, & future generations. 2 Years later ... the legacy lives on B-)
