Sony A7 + Canon FDn 50mm f/1.4

A little offset study with 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and 1 plate height differences. Could have been done a bit easier maybe, but it was just a 'digital table-scrap'.

Hong Kong Transport - Buses | All types

The Hong Kong Bus Culture

The number of buses registered + licenced in Hong Kong seems to fluctuate between 18,000 - 22,000 vehicles and presumably new buses registered are offset by old buses being retired or sold over the border in China. (Source - The Transport Department, Hong Kong Government)

Bus services in Hong Kong have to be amongst the best of all major cities in the World.

All major Hong Kong Bus Companies invest heavily and are using mainly brand new double decker buses and all of them are testing and introducing single and double decker 100% electric buses and also hydrogen powered buses for future use.

☛Major Franchised Bus Companies in Hong Kong

Citybus | Cityflyer ✚ Kowloon Motor Bus | KMB ✚ Long Win Motor Bus | LWB ✚ New Lantao Bus | NLB ✚ HZMB ✚ Note : New World First Bus | NWFB merged with Citybus in 2022

☛Non - Franchised Public Bus Services using double decker and single decker buses (feeder services)

Mass Transit Railway | MTR ✚ DBTS - Lantau Island ✚ Park Island Transport Co. Ltd.

☛All Major Franchised Public Minibus Services (PLB) seating 16 or 19 people

Franchised and Non Franchised Public Light Bus Red Top ✚ Franchised Public Light Bus Green Top

☛Privately Owned Buses

Toyota seems to be the preferred brand for privately owned small and medium sized buses and are used for the following purposes

Public and Private Rehab Buses ✚ Commercial Building Buses ✚ Resident Services Buses ✚ Travel and Tour Buses ✚ Contract Hire ✚ School Buses ✚ Hotel Buses ✚ Misc. Buses for any type of charter | hire too numerous to mention including cross border buses.

One of the largest privately owned companies is Kwoon Chung Bus Company who also offer Non Franchised and Franchised Bus Services through it‛s subsidiary New Lantao Bus

☛Many Hong Kong Government Departments have a fleet of buses but for some reason also contract hire from Private Bus Companies on an “as needed” basis.

Any Government OWNED and operated vehicle in this section (such as Correctional Services Buses, Police Buses etc ) have a licence plate starting AM and any Chinese Military Vehicle has a licence plate starting ZG and naturally some of these vehicles have personalized licence plates which they buy at Government Auction!

Oil on canvas board

This offset litho print, published by Sidney Z. Lucas in New York City sometime between 1940 and 1960, depicts a pair of Eastern Rosella parakeets, also known as Rose-hill Parakeets. Printed on inexpensive paper, it is fairly tanned from aging, and the previous owner did not treat it (or the other three of these prints I have) very well. It has thumbtack holes in all four corners, and there are yellowed tape marks on the back that show through slightly to the front in a couple of places. That said, it's a charming, brightly colored print.

Size is 9x12", with the image itself measuring roughly 7x9".

John Gould (1804-1881) was the son of a gardener and was fascinated by birds from a young age. After following in his father's footsteps for a time, he took up taxidermy, a trade which was in high demand during those years due to the flood of scientific expeditions in search of new species. At the age of 23, he was appointed curator to the museum for the Zoological Society of London, which gave him access to the Society's incoming specimens, from which he and his wife produced their first book of prints. The newly-available process of lithography helped Gould make a success of what had ordinarily been a risky proposition - producing and selling large, color-plate books. Not being an artist himself, Gould employed others to create the images, primarily his wife, Elizabeth.

Elizabeth's two brothers had emigrated to Australia in the early 1830s, and the specimens they shipped back to England for Gould's examination sparked his interest in documenting the species of that part of the world. In 1838 he and his family sailed to Australia, and he spent the next two years collecting specimens and making notes. He is credited with introducing the budgerigar, or "budgie", to England, as he took several pairs home with him as pets.

The result was a seven-volume work, "The Birds of Australia." It was published over the period of 1840-1848, and covered 681 species, 328 of which had not previously been recorded. It is considered to be his masterwork out of the more than 40 books he published in his lifetime.

Gould is referred to as "the father of ornithology in Australia."

Using the basic idea from the previous photo, I quickly drew up a crease pattern, with approximations for the curved folds being splines in AutoCAD (yeah, so not entirely Polly, since they're arbitrary curves and not circles =P)... Eventually I'll probably work out what the curves should actually be more mathematically instead of guesstimating, but I was rushing...

Crease pattern for this tess but with shorter distance between hubs here:

While folding this I realized just how badly I fold curves >_<... I especially had trouble folding valley fold curves to a drawn crease pattern that I was basically "tracing"... Maybe Oschene has some tips on this? (Actually, this was what I meant when I asked you at the convention if you had any tips for folding curves)

If I had a ROBO I'd probably try doing this with really really short humps to make the pattern more compact...

An old machine, probably about 70 or 80 years old or more and used for printing propaganda leaflets and single page newspapers. Possibly a wartime memorial?

while I was waiting the release I was playing offset with Adios Script

About Adios Script

Romantic, decorative Adios Script is one of Alejandro Paul’s most elaborate and technically refined faces to date. Inspired by designs in “how-to” commercial lettering guides of the 1940s, it has been refined and brought into the 21st century through a huge variety of ornate swash letterforms. The lowercase “h” alone offers 43 variants. Hundreds of ornamental ascenders and descenders allow a beautiful interplay of strokes and combinations, while avoiding overlaps or conflicts. Adios Script features a mind-boggling 1,470 characters in total, in OpenType format.

Adios Script received a Certificate of Excellence at the Type Directors Club of New York and was selected for the Tipos Latinos Biennial exhibition.

This eye-popping Fender Jazz Bass in custom retro orange delivers a clean, confident twist on a time-honored classic. Displayed in a boutique setting with subtle overhead light and a black-and-white photo mural behind it, this bass strikes a dynamic pose—equal parts modern minimalism and vintage swagger.

Originally introduced in 1960 by Leo Fender, the Jazz Bass was a sleek, ergonomic response to the beefier Precision Bass, offering a slimmer neck and enhanced tonal clarity. This particular model leans into those original proportions but dresses them in a vibrant orange finish reminiscent of 1970s sunburst muscle cars and vintage surfboards. It’s a bold color choice, softened by the vintage cream pickguard and matching split-coil pickups.

Its rosewood fingerboard adds a touch of warmth—both visually and tonally—contrasting beautifully with the glossy orange body. The control plate and dome knobs retain that unmistakable Jazz Bass offset aesthetic, offering tonal versatility with a look that never goes out of style. While the body suggests 60s-era Fender craftsmanship, the matte display surroundings and backlit mural give this presentation an upscale, museum-like vibe.

This is the kind of bass that turns heads before it’s plugged in. Whether it’s a Japanese-market exclusive, a custom shop one-off, or part of a short-run color series, it embodies everything Jazz Basses are loved for: balanced lines, gutsy tone, and timeless cool.
