Guermassa, Túnez

A shot taken at the start of November last year that was never processed for some reason. Taken in Hillock Wood on a wonderful misty autumnal morning with still some green in the canopy to offset the lush coppery reds in the ferns and beech saplings.

Object: The Sights in Auriga– (HST or SHO palette) – 2022

A widefield view of part of the constellation of Auriga (The Charioteer)

The field contains:

Left side of frame -IC405 (The Flaming Star Nebula -aka SH2-229 or Caldwell 31) an emission/reflection nebula in the northern part of Auriga. It surrounds the irregular, blue star AE Auriga and is about 1500 light years from Earth.

Center upper right - IC410 (The Tadpoles Nebula) a dusty emission nebula/stellar nursery at about 12.000 light years from Earth that illuminated by the star cluster NGC1893 which is about 4 million years old so still relatively young. The nebula is noted for the ”tadpole” structures that have been created by the radiation pressure from the stars in NGC189.

Right side of frame - IC417 (The Spider Nebula) – An emission nebula lit up by massive hot stars that is currently producing new stars. It is located about 10,000 light years from Earth.

The Cathedral is a striking white-painted monumental church with a single high belltower offset to the right of the main entrance. Built on a plan comprising three longitudinal naves surmounted by semi-ogival arches on square pillars, the basic spatial structure of the Cathedral is typical of the 16th century. Based upon interior features — especially the details of the pillars, arches, and the carved and coffered ceiling — some experts assert that the Cathedral should be characterized as Gothic-Mudéjar in style. It certainly has Gothic features in the pointed arches of its naves, as well as in the ambulatory that surrounds the presbytery.

***

Inside, the three naves are supported by pointed arches, which in turn are supported by pillars with square bases. The central nave has cedar panelling betraying Moorish influences. An extraordinary wooden coffered ceiling is supported by a golden frieze and beautiful paintings hang among the arches.

Just cant stay away from capturing different angles of this recessed wall. Ironically its right across from the art gallery that I visit often.

Not sure if I like this composition ... it looked nice when I took it, but for some reason seems off balanced to my eye on the screen ... not level.

This is a self portrait taken in front of a glass door taking advantage of the sunlight. I added a black frame around my original photo to offset the prism of colors refracting from the glass.

A view of the dome inside the Michigan State Capital Building.

The building was built in 1872 and was designed by Elijah E Meyers. As the previous building had burnt down, this one started a trend for Capital Buildings by being fireproof. Listed as a National Historic Site in 1971

Monoprinting (with a touch of pastel) - just playing about with shapes and colour. It's these seemingly simple things which stretch the old grey matter.
