Tower Arch Jeep Safari Trail in the Arches National Park (2019-04-15)
I edited this with Luminar 4 for Skylum using the sky replacement tool. I thought it would look cool at night, so I went with a nighttime sky replacement. The software was smart enough to change the foreground image and make it darker.

I tried to get up where the ascent was not as steep as the other, but did not notice the sand is that deep loose here - I quickly reversed before I got really stuck (may be the truck would have made it on a second try) and took the other, steeper path, which then worked easier ...

An old trail on the edge of the Old Army Fort, Fort Bayard outside Silver City. This beautiful area was occupied by the Apache until the US Army dragoons including Buffalo soldiers, displaced them. Now it is quiet. Near the Dragonfly Trail , mostly known for the petroglyphs.

2005 jeep grand cherokee rental. cont'd which, getting bolder, did not turn out to be a good thing to turn to. so if you look at this map in pdf format you can see where we went. we came in from the east on 24 from hanksville, then turned left to go all the way to the capitol gorge. then i thought i was smart by not going all the way back to 24 and then turn left to come down 12 towards pleasant creek, no we went along the south draw road. it started all quite nicely, going through a creek here and over some rocks there. but as the grey line on the map turns to a dashed line, it became wilder and wilder. i stopped taking pictures, so what you see above is not representative of the whole trail. we were creeping along, banging our heads on the pillars. no signs whatsoever (well in fact there was one, half way down saying you are leaving the national park - boy what a relief and boy what a shock that it was another 1.5 hours of nightmare), you could only guess where to go, which mostly was alright - only one way possible anyway. three hours later we were glad we came out ok. a little bit of rain would have had disastrous consequences. or a flat. or taking the wrong path. or sliding off the trail. or ripping out an axle. or a rock slicing the tire...
