This is how I've been feeling lately. I have barely really had time to sit still, other than when I am hanging with a friend. Whenever I'm alone, I have this pile of stuff to do... and like for example, I moved into this apartment in August and I STILL haven't finished unpacking!!! Seriously this is a little bit sad, haha. I keep telling myself, ok THIS WEEKEND I will take a day off for just myself and finish unpacking but then I remember that I have to do this or that. I have quite a lot of responsibilities lately.

But really, I don't mind it. I kind of love it... in fact tonight as my best friend Juliana and I walked down the street in the rain after having drinks together, admiring the christmas lights on the trees. She asked me what I was doing tonight and I said I had to prepare the ASL sheets for class this sunday, and of course my self portrait as well. Sigh never any time to just lay around and zone out anymore... she turned to me and said [something like this]... you know what I think Zoltar? I think you're going to just keep doing the 365 project even after the project is over, you'll just keep going, because it's in you. You're compelled to create something everyday. Just like how I am with yoga. It's who we are, it's what drives us. It's what calms us, centres us, and drives us crazy.

She's absolutely right... I probably will. Ha. I love it. I hate it. It's a blessing. It's a curse. Doesn't it work like that with everything that is really important in our lives?

Anyway this shot was again, accidental. I was trying to take a shot of me with the boxes to show how busy I have been lately, to the point where I still haven't even finished unpacking, but I got up too early and this is what I got. It works.

p.s I'm gonna finish unpacking this weekend, REALLY! Haha.

At Grand Valley State University (Allendale, Michigan) for the excellent Re-think It 2015 Conference. Here are my pictures of the beautiful Mary Idema Pew Library Learning and Information Commons that opened in 2013. This is a LEED Platinum building (the first I ever visited). From their site: "The Mary Idema Pew Library Learning and Information Commons is designed to be the intellectual heart of the Allendale Campus. It will exceed the expectations of anyone who thinks of a library solely as a home for printed books and whispered words. In this new library, students will find a range of environments, from noisy to quiet, in which they can work on an assignment alone or in a group; receive coaching from a peer consultant in research, writing, or presenting; practice a new skill or play with a new idea; learn something unexpectedly; engage easily with each other in spaces engineered to accommodate the sounds of natural conversation; or curl up by the fireplace in a contemplative space with the best views on campus. Students will do all of these things in a building that was crafted with their needs in mind—the right lighting, the right furniture, the right resources, the right services, the right spaces, and the right amount of flexibility. "Going to the library" will take on a whole new meaning as the Mary Idema Pew Library Learning and Information Commons becomes and integral part of every student's experience at Grand Valley."

HOW 2009 Studio Tours: Creative Suitcase

This was my favorite agency we toured. They're housed in a small historic bungalow. They love traveling and have branded themselves around it with a theme of suitcase and travel. They even created a exchange program called SwapYourShop.com - I'll definitely have to check it out. Woman owned and run this place was super quaint and had a good vibe.

Notes: Post Office

Postal services took some time to be regularised in the Blue Mountains. The first post office between the Nepean River and Mount Victoria was for railway workers at Wentworth Falls between 1864 and 1868, but the first general postal facility was Valley Heights post office, opened in December 1876.

In Springwood, the few residents, gingered by Charles Moore, petitioned for a post office in 1876 at the same time as the same group successfully applied for a public school. Although the postal authorities in Sydney were less impressed than the school inspector, claiming that there were 'only five residents at Springwood besides Mr Moore', a receiving office on Springwood railway station was opened in May 1877 and a postmaster was appointed in 1880, in reflection of increasing business.

The railway station remained the focus of postal facilities for the rest of the nineteenth century. The lamp room was fitted out as a post and telegraph office in 1891-2, but this proved to be 'damp and unhealthy' and in 1897 negotiations began to acquire the western 20 metres (66 feet) of vacant land between the public school on Macquarie Road and the police-station beside the railway station. The transfer of land was finally agreed in 1899, when Varney Parkes, son of Sir Henry, was Postmaster General, at the cost of 500 pounds.

Tenders for a post office building were called in July 1900 and the successful contractor, J. Beaumont, completed the work on 24 January 1901. It opened for business on 5 February 1901. A shelter shed for letter-carriers' horses was completed in the following June and the back verandah was enclosed at the end of 1903. From 1912-1965 it also housed the manual telephone exchange.

The Springwood Post Office is much altered from its original 1901 form. It is inter-war in character with only a few hints of its federation origins. The building has a hipped roof wing fronting Macquarie Road with a rear hipped roof wing facing east to the adjacent car park. The present accessible entry to the present office is through the verandah on the east side of the rear wing, replacing the original recessed porch and stairs off Macquarie Street.

A rear hipped roof wing with a corbelled brick chimney could be a survivor from the 1901 post office, along with a gabled building in the rear yard. The building retains significance since it has never ceased to be a post office. In a central location in the main shopping area of Springwood, the post office retains an important part of the community.
