Not usually this messy, honest! You may notice an abundance of penguins, there are at least 4 different penguin items on or around my desk.

The grand ex post office in Fleet Street Torquay closed c2007 but retains the name above the doorway. Still unoccupied apart from a Tesco Metro that has taken over the part of the old building to the left, just out of shot. The Post Office has moved into WHS Smith in Union Street and the twin pillar boxes from the front of the building have been removed replaced with a similar pair outside Smith's.

more from the roof of the Detroit Building of Doom. I have more to post but I'm pretty sure this is my favorite. Metropolitan Building, People Mover tracks, new and old skyscrapers, a huge parking lot, ominous clouds, mysterious steam...
This is my workstation at home. The small toaster-like box on the left is my work PC, and the dell on the right is my print server/DVD Burner/Testing Server. The monkey contemplating a skull sitting atop a stack of books is a gift from my Dad.
Growing up, there were many nights I would stare at the monkey statue while doing homework at his desk. When the monkey started talking to me, I began doing my homework in my room.
No new photos yet, but I keep finding old shots that I find interesting - and new to flickr - which I hope you will like!
Old buildings in West Bromwich.
This is on High Street in West Bromwich.
This building dating from 1883 was the Offices Of Kenrick And Jefferson Limited. It is Grade II listed.
Offices. 1883. Red brick and red terra cotta with hipped tile roof.
A symmetrical composition of two storeys with attic, with upper and lower
cornices, and balustrade with urns. At each end are quoin strips on the
ground floor and paired pilasters above. The centre of the facade has
similar emphasis, with an oriel window above the doorway and an elaborate
attic dormer with broken pediment. The lower part of the oriel is
inscribed "1883". Each half of the facade has an emphasised centre with
triple windows (the outer ones narrower) and pedimented attic dormer, and
has two windows to each side. These windows have architraves. On the
ground floor they have broken pediments with terra cotta decoration. Built
as the printing and publishing offices of the Free Press Co. Illustrated
in VCH, P 73.

Really happy with how things are laid out now. The 42" TV as a second monitor for my desktop is amazing. Working with that and the Wacom tablet is amazing. Watching Netflix instant play movies and DVDs in 1080p in our awesome living room is amazing.
Eventually, I'll set up a separate media server with my old laptop and an external video card (its monitor died but I have it set up on wireless LAN).
And I still have to build a second desk/kitchen table and move the bookcases around a bit. And we need a few more stools, folding chairs, and a keyboard stand. But it's really close to ideal now. I wanna have friends over for movies!
Oh yeah, speaking of happiness, Claire and I will be celebrating 2 years together very soon!

Starbird Youth Center, a Redevelopment Agency project, has been awarded SILVER LEED® certification, established by the U.S. Green Building Council and verified by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI).
The 3,840 square feet center was constructed with extensive use of recycled materials. It also boasts windows designed to capture sunrays, clerstory windows that allow the hot air to escape from the building, as well as a climate-controlled system that is maintained by a large fan to draw in air in the evening to cool down the building in the summer and a radiant floor heating system to heat the building in the winter. The Center’s large windows naturally illuminate the classrooms and lounge where neighborhood youth are tutored and socialize.
The total cost of the project was approximately $3.2 million, including $2.6 million from the San Jose Redevelopment Agency and $550,000 from Park Trust Funds.
