The cisterns are moved into place behind the tire wall. The four cisterns can hold 1,700 gallons each.

Well, I lucked out in finding this 3000 watt continuous - 6000 watt surge inverter on clearance at Harbor Freight today. They had it marked down to $224, and I had a 20% off coupon, bringing it down to $ 179.
The 120vac EVSE that came with the 2012 Chevy Volt, had no problem using it.
This photo shows the load on the Inverter with the car charging at 8 amps.
Should be no problem with the 12 amp setting, but the battery bank was not fully charged tonight.
Depending upon the heat generated at 12 amps, at the 120vac outlet of the inverter, I may have to go inside the unit, and solder in a direct connection with a good 10 gauge extension cord pigtail for the EVSE.
We went once more "Up the Pyrenees mountains and down again" in 3 dauntless Land Rovers..

I designed and made these temporary stairs, they are inspired by the hórreos - the grain stores in the region, for the Almacen, Riocaliente, Asturias.

The batteries were second hand and stored for almost a year so we're giving them a really good charge before connecting them to the household circuit

Walking back to my cabin after supper along the path, over the stream, I stopped. It was dark but the filtered moonlight through the wispy clouds gave just enough illumination.
Listening. I heard nothing. It is windless night, cold, ground blanketed with fresh powder.
Still stopped, frozen in place, I glanced around. Searching the forest I saw nothing.
For a brief moment not a car moving, not a plane overhead, not an animal moving. I was alone in the silence.
Those moments are rare.
The above photograph is an aerial view of the Caribbean renewable power system that was commissioned in late April 2010.
This is an off-grid system that incorporates 8 x 15 kW wind turbines, 240 kWp solar photovoltaics, 3 x 312 kVA diesel gensets and a whopping 360v battery bank rated at 6000Ah capable of storing 2.16 MWh of energy.
