A neat summary of my OffGrid talk by the guys at www.scriberia.co.uk - @scriberia

Nibbling away at the rubber with a cutter is the only way I can get them open to expose the wires

Naomi and I rented a small tiny home/cabin through Air BNB for a little weekend getaway to hit the restart button. We took her polaroid camera as well but I didn't scan any of those in.

Prime Lenses for the interior, the Blackwater falls photo I believe I snapped with my new 24-70.

Beautiful anniversary weekend with my girl.

The above photograph depicts the 15kW wind turbines and solar modules with manual tracking system during the site commissioning in late April 2010.

This system includes a total of 8 x 15kW turbines and 240kWp of solar PV. In addition, the system incorporates a 360v battery bank rated at 6000Ah that is capable of 2.16MWh energy storage.

Brent Kreuger and his partner Monica were the first to overwinter in the Craik Eco-Village where they built their Praxis International Institute boarding school and home after “a meeting of the minds” when they met with the local sustainability committee and plopped down their money to buy a lot in the Eco-Village for a dollar. Once the house was finished, the airstream was moved to an outlying five acres and served as our gust house.

The Santa Cruz system was completed in 2005 by Optimal Power Solutions. The system compromises a 90kW Inverter capacity with 137kW PV including diesel gensets in a hybrid, off-grid setup.

The above photograph depicts the AC Switching Cabinet (ACSC), Multi Genset Control System (MGSC) and Station Control Module (SCM) for the Caribbean renewable hybrid project.

The AC system sources are switched through a customised AC switching cabinet that is rated at 1.5 MW. In addition, OPS supplied a Station Control Module that incorporates local and remote access to the system.

These ancillary system components have years of field-hardened experience in OPS projects. The MGSC has been specifically developed to operate and automate a number of diesel generators at a typical isolated power station: it can interface with a HPC or other OPS hardware to achieve a seamless power supply system.

A recent 'Off Grid' solar system we have installed enabling this field classroom to enjoy the benefits of 'mains' electricity at any time.

Low cost systems such as this can be fitted to anywhere without power to provide lights, fridge, etc

Tara in her kitchen. She lives ‘Off Grid’ here in Dumfries and Galloway. No electricity and water collected daily from a well. Almost self sufficient.
