Beautiful falls in a dramatic setting at the base of the Oxi Pass (Road 939), just a couple of kilometres off the Ring Road.
The Peak Forest Cemex sidings to Ashburys SS pulls out of the Long Sidings and heads north / west. The yellow fencing does spoil the impact of the distant peg.
If anyone can tell me why 60039 was having a disco with its marker lights on start up, that would be good.
Well truth be told, I don't have any fictitious figures lying around the house. I looked just about everywhere and nothing. My friend Helen is hosting the Macro Mondays group this week so I wanted to come up with something for the theme. I decided it was time to widen the search, my son Daniel happened to be home so it was time to see what he had. Well Daniel has all kinds of fictitious action figures that come as models and he assembles. Both my son's grew up in the war gaming world, my one son designs them for a living and Daniel enjoys putting them together. I chose Unicorn, a derivation of the original Gundam, a little warrior ready for battle. I'm good with that and that's the extent of my knowledge so please no questions. I will add you're looking at 1.5 inches from the tip of his helmet wing thing to the bottom of the red marking on the shield he's holding. Shot with one light off to the left and some fairy lights in the back, for my good bokeh friends, sorry no bubbles from the Voigtlander...
Shot with: VOIGTLANDER, 125mm f/2.5 SL, MACRO APO-LANTHAR, shot @ f/4.0, 31 Layer Focus Stack Rendered w/Helicon Focus, (B,R5,S3).
Spotted on a rather foggy, overcast day, there was this almost perfect floral image. All factors not conveying that are mine.
Ventured down the coast for a few days this week, Dovercourt is a grand total of 24 miles from home and I think that's as far as we're going to get this year in terms of a summer holiday!
The traditional view of the Low Lighthouse is normally a sunrise shot with it being on the East coast but it also makes an interesting subject during the day. We've had a few very hot sunny days here this week- it was all blue hazy skies so not a lot in the way of photographic opportunities, but it was lovely to see people enjoying the beach and cooling off in the sea. I love the sparkles on the sea on a bright sunny day.
(I THINK I got permission from the pretty girl in the pink swimsuit to photograph them. I was some distance away but we had a vague waving/pointing at the camera/distant thumbs up kind of exchange. I was pleased to see when I zoomed in she is looking straight at me and smiling :) )
Happy Weekend everyone!
With the primary grade crossings in Titusville now clear of snow and ice, 3568 continues on to work customers on the east side of town.

Puffins on Skomer Island, Pembrokeshire
despite being heavily cropped I think this works due to the combination of the 45Mp on the R5, the sharpness of the RF L lens and the enlargement AI capabilities of ON1.
Hope everyone has had a great weekend.

From time to time I like to challenge myself. In this case it was about photographing the steam given off by the water kettle.
For this I used a Nikon Z8 camera and a Meyer Optik Görlitz Biotar 75mm F1.5 II lens, which has completely manual operation, both in focus and diaphragm aperture.
Since the room was dark the exposure time was going to be longer than one second, in this case 1.6 seconds, I attached the camera to a tripod, used a remote shutter release and deactivated the IBIS stabilization.
I set the sensitivity to ISO 64
To illuminate the vapor trail beam I used an LED flashlight and opened the diaphragm halfway, at an aperture of F5.6.
At first I had used the maximum aperture (F1.5) but what occurs in many lenses of this type: a chromatic aberration towards a green tone.
The rest is a slight repair with Lightroom and Photoshop.

this green heron decided to find a better hunting spot across the wetlands
(a rather dull looking bird in the shadows, but get them in the right light...)
I've decided to take a year off from photography. I've certainly had a number of setbacks photographically over the last year and also I've lost my motivation to pick up a camera. Maybe a long period without picking up a camera will help me find a new appreciation.
Somewhat ironically the sun was quite nice this evening so I shot this last one as the sun sets over Ilkley Moor. I am still judging competitions and enjoying looking at others images though which is something !

Have a great week!
While at a roadside pullout along Alberta Provincial Highway No 22 with a view looking to the northwest across some farmland prairie grass to more distance ridges and peaks with Pyriform Mountain, Junction Mountain, and Mount Burns.
Here's how it goes in my neck of the woods....
1. watch the local news to see if the impending thunderstorm will stop the launch.
2. Wait until about a minute and a half before lift off, then go outside and take a few practice shots."
3. Watch the shuttle rise into the sky and fly over the ocean.
4. Watch the tiny, orange speck of flame until there's separation and it disappears.
5. Grab some more shots of the shuttle trail.
6. Go back in the AC and cool off again!
