Here you have a male Red-Bellied Woodpecker on the left and a male Downy Woodpecker on the right. They landed on the same tree in different spots, shimmied up and down until they were face to face and starred at each other for about a minute and flew away. No punches were thrown :-)
Picture isn't as sharp as I'd like but the subject matter overruled.

168001 at Rickmansworth, en route to Aylesbury back in 2013. These 4 car, 100mph units are most frequently used on the GW-GC mainline to Banbury and Birmingham, so to see one on the local service was, at the time, unusual. The design on these is somewhere between the earlier Networker and the later Turbostar types. Had some very very spirited running running on these, that are now over 20 years old.
So, I'm driving down Knights of Columbus Blvd at the airport and see this old purple fire truck sitting in the far edge of the parking lot of the BNA business building. It's just sitting there with graffiti all over most of it. What confuses me is why it's just sitting there in the parking lot of this really nice looking office tower. Strange...
Week 36
My 21st brithday. This week was my birthweek and what a weird birthweek it was. It almost feels like none of what happened happened. I started the week off in New Hampshire filming a short film with Teddy and a group of amazing people. My birthday in particular wasn't anything too spectacular. Just another shoot day. Teddy and I did go out and take photos but none of them really came out to my liking. It was a great night of exploration though which was nice. I came back from New Hampshire on Wednesday and stopped by George at college and picked up Scott before adventuring around the Seaport which is one of my favorite places to take photos! The brand new glass buildings right on the water make for some beautiful bokeh and lighting situations. I ended up coming back to see George the next day as well just for fun and we took more photos and explored a bit more. Now I am in Chicago on a business trip and we start shooting tomorrow. I can't wait to get back in the field. What a crazy week I have ahead of me.
I can't wait to see what this next week will bring!

"Product advertisement"
This was a bit harder than I expected. I knew I wanted a bit of a challenge. I figured I would try to highlight a local/regional brand (this is a microbrew from Lakeland, which is about midway between Orlando and Tampa). I could have done a wine bottle, but those can be a bit cliche (even though they aren't exactly easy to light well). I learned aluminum cans aren't easy to light either.
This gave me an opportunity to play around with my off camera flash and some modifiers, but I just didn't have decent space to move and position them as they probably should have been. And unfortunately I don't really have the time to play around some more this weekend. I do have a few other ideas, but maybe for a later date. Also, I learned how to remote capture directly to the laptop, so that really helped.
The rabbit balloon lifts off and the passengers wave to the crowd.

Using the Olympics as an excuse to “ temporarily” increase shop opening times on a Sunday, then make it permanent.
Today we removed two old wooden box cars from the waterfront cement plant that is destined to become a world class destination hotel and convention center. The track the F unit is on only sees service when a car needs to be pulled out of service, and the track the train is on has seen two moves in 30 years. As such vegetation has grown up everywhere! There are tracks under there somewhere!

Sadly today my girlfriend went off with her family for a long holiday to visit L.A and Hawaii. This is some of her money she had already exchanged before heading off.
Also this photo isn't the best quality since I wasn't able to edit it in PS. Anything with currency doesn't seem to open properly....
There might be some mud, a tough climb, or maybe even a tight squeeze, but that's the whole point, ain't it.

Since the Inspector has a cloud for a face i figure he can manipulate his features and expressions to suit his current mood. Here he is reclining pensively with a good book and a rather impressive vapour-moustache.
