Imagine you are on a dream beach in the summer and have it alone for you...
Reminiscent of the Caribbean, a manless sandy beach on the Isle of Harris, outer Hebrides.

Three Alaska railroad GP's prepare to load out the rest of the ARMS barge on a typical Whittier day. Cold, wet, and foggy pretty much sums up this all season port with the original military era housing standing in the background. One of the neat things about the Whittier switch stands is that they all are some how lit at the same time in this shot and no its not photoshopped. After loading is complete these three Gp's will depart under the cover of darkness for Anchorage.

Do you ever have one of those moments when you just have to stop your vehicle immediately, grab your camera and shoot?
This field seemed to have a bit of everything going on......light, vibrant colour, water, reflection, mood, clouds, silhouette.
What really caught my eye were all the pretty layers.
Hope you like it.
Thanks for viewing.
The Falls of Falloch (Eas Falloch in Scottish Gaelic; meaning the Hidden Falls) is a waterfall and picnic area, north of Loch Lomond.
Located just of the A82, 3 miles south of Crianlarich.
When you park in the car park, it's only a short 5 minute walk to the falls. You can view the falls from the riverbank, or a specially designed cage.
The Falls are part of the River Falloch which ultimately run into Loch Lomond.
The pool at the bottom of the falls is called Rob Roy's bathtub - I tried to find out why, but couldn't find the reason. I did find out it was popular with wild swimmers.
A rather nice sky on the commute home.
Taken with the Leica Summilux Steelrim at f/1.4. Notice the flare on the yard lights to the right of the frame, stopping down just a little makes the flaring go away.
'Bowl of Beauty' Peony is famous for its huge, hot-pink outer petals that surround a soft and frilly ivory-yellow center, with each bloom measuring up to 10" across.
One of the most attractive peonies available, and one of my faves to photograph ..
In remembrance of the Unknown Soldier
Dan Barton has created and installed 101 6ft tall Armistice day Soldier Silhouettes to Commemorate the end of WW1 and 75 poppy wreathes to commemorate the end of WW2 at The Aston Rowant Nature Reserve. The Natural England Reserve can be found on the hillside at Stokenchurch, Oxfordshire above the M40 Motorway.
Dan hopes to raise funds for The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal and has set up a Just Giving Page.
Dan hopes this installation will provoke thought as people drive along the M40 motorway to remind us to enjoy the freedom we have and to teach our younger generations to treasure and cherish their freedom and to live well. Dan believes that all that we have in this moment is possible because of those that have come before us.

Flamboyance of Flamingos is another term for a flock, this group is relaxing and grazing, they are a colorful group! Found in my travels along the way.
This "city" is a New Mexico State Park in one square mile of Chihuahuan desert at 5,200 feet elevation. It is made up of large, sculpted rock formations rising around 40 feet. Erosion created these enigmatic shapes over millions of years.
Happy Slider Sunday!

“I can never read all the books I want; I can never be all the people I want and live all the lives I want. I can never train myself in all the skills I want. And why do I want? I want to live and feel all the shades, tones and variations of mental and physical experience possible in my life. And I am horribly limited.”

EVERYBODY HURTS – R.E.M.
A Day in the Life of an HSP (Highly Sensitive Person) or What it is to be Me ...
The darkness fell on me like a hungry wolf
and cloaking me in velveteen
it disappeared me into oblivion
The cool wet earth squelched between my toes
and the holes in my boots
widened like the mouths of ravenous dogs
The stench of the marshlands
hit my nostrils full pelt
and brought me to my knees
whereupon it dissipated into nothingness
The moon looked down forming an eye
like the Eye of Horus
and the tree licked with long lashes
the cold night air that seeped through the gaps
and steeped in abject misery time after time elapsed
and the world I'd inhabited for so long collapsed
The limbs of the forest and leaves that fell
and intricate tendrils coiled and toiled
in the frozen breath and the belly of the earth
I felt the cloying darkness descending fast
The carpet of Autumn was widespread
and dawning on me now was the realisation
the dread of Winter was arriving
devoid of polite and solicitous invitation
with total disregard or due consideration
The search for the last leaf left
was fast approaching from every compass point
and I stood still as Winter swept around me
my ankles bitten hard and knees grazed
by the North wind ice-tipped arrows
The Moon was orange and looked warm
as it reflected the Sun back to it
like a mirror at a fairground distorted and forlorn
and hid the truth as even our own eyes thus deceived us
The impression was of the fiercest heat
and the facade kept on growing
building on the illusion
that stills the beating of my heart
the last breath on my lips so blue
the final moment when it comes
is as seamless as the first
and yet the hunger and the thirst
are no longer felt
are surplus to requirement
all that is needed now
is completeness
of the circle of life
and stillness
peace and quiet
profound or without ground
desire no longer felt
and all the sins wiped clean
cleansed and bathed
and laid in readiness
for the cycle to begin again
and again
and again
ad infinitum
world without end
oh the hopeless futility of it all
and yet
I had found love
I had found beauty
I had found a pathway
through every uncertainty
and I kept on going
no matter what
I am small
I am a speck
and yet
I am not beaten yet …

"Fields Of Gold"
You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of barley
You'll forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we walk in the fields of gold
So she took her love
For to gaze awhile
Upon the fields of barley
In his arms she fell as her hair came down
Among the fields of gold
Will you stay with me, will you be my love
Among the fields of barley
We'll forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we lie in the fields of gold
See the west wind move like a lover so
Upon the fields of barley
Feel her body rise when you kiss her mouth
Among the fields of gold
I never made promises lightly
And there have been some that I've broken
But I swear in the days still left
We'll walk in the fields of gold
We'll walk in the fields of gold
Many years have passed since those summer days
Among the fields of barley
See the children run as the sun goes down
Among the fields of gold
You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of barley
You can tell the sun in his jealous sky
When we walked in the fields of gold
When we walked in the fields of gold
When we walked in the fields of gold

This was one of my favourite light displays at Vivid this year. It was amazing to walk through here!! If you look carefully, you can see all the people in there. Last weekend Sydney was struck by extreme weather and this display was damaged by the gale force winds. It has now been fixed. In fact, lights at Vivid were switched off for two nights, except for The Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. This was for safety reasons because of the weather.
Sorry everyone for not being on Flickr much lately, I've been so busy. I will have time over our long weekend to catch up:)) Have a wonderful weekend my friends!
One of the best Day of the Dead paintings I have seen on this wall in the restaurant Dos Bandidos in Broken Arrow. Have a fantastic Wednesday Walls!
Another architectural composition of Moscow.
Borodinskiy bridge over the river Moscow
At the core of the modern bridge - bearing arch bridge, built in 1911-1912 by engineers NI Oskolkov, MI Schekotova and architect RI Klein (featuring AD Chichagova) as a monument to the Battle of Borodino to 100- anniversary of World War II. Rebuilt in 1952 and 1999-2001, with the replacement of carrying spans, extension and superstructure supports.
Stalin skyscraper built in the years 1948-1953 (architects Professor Vladimir Gelfreikh, MA Minkus). The central volume includes 27 floors, the building height - 172 m. The building is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation (Russian Foreign Minister).
A characteristic feature of skyscrapers is a great emblem of the USSR on its facade. Emblem mounted in reinforced concrete, is located at an altitude of 114 m and covers an area of 144 square meters.

Many of you will go what the heck is wrong with Brat. Nothing. This is for all of us that at one time or another suffered some form of abuse. This is something for people to sit back and think... and please do before you speak. Words hurt as much as the physical abuse.
So chins up, set your boundaries, be yourself a beautiful angel inside and out. Let the bruises heal and find that inner beauty again.

I will not make
The same mistakes that you did
I will not let myself
Cause my heart so much misery
I will not break
The way you did, you fell so hard
I've learned the hard way
To never let it get that far
Because of you
I never stray too far from the sidewalk
Because of you
I learned to play on the safe side so I don't get hurt
Because of you
I find it hard to trust not only me, but everyone around me
Because of you
I am afraid
I lose my way
And it's not too long before you point it out
I cannot cry
Because I know that's weakness in your eyes
I'm forced to fake
A smile, a laugh everyday of my life
My heart can't possibly break
When it wasn't even whole to start with
Because of you
I never stray too far from the sidewalk
Because of you
I learned to play on the safe side so I don't get hurt
Because of you
I find it hard to trust not only me, but everyone around me
Because of you
I am afraid
I watched you die
I heard you cry every night in your sleep
I was so young
You should have known
Better than to lean on me
You never thought of anyone else
You just saw your pain
And now I cry in the middle of the night
For the same damn thing
Because of you
I never stray too far from the sidewalk
Because of you
I learned to play on the safe side so I don't get hurt
Because of you
I try my hardest just to forget everything
Because of you
I don't know how to let anyone else in
Because of you
I'm ashamed of my life
Because it's empty
Because of you
I am afraid
Because of you
Because of you
In Greek mythology Icarus was the son of the craftsman Daedalus. It was Daedalus who made the wings of feathers and wax that he and Icarus used to attempt to escape Crete. Unfortunately Icarus did not pay attention to Daedalus' warnings about flying too close to the sun. Soon the wax melted and Icarus fell out of the sky to his death.
The lesson in this moral tale is to beware of hubris. As an ancient Hebrew proverb puts it, "Pride goeth before a fall." And Icarus' fall was tragic. But we can forgive Icarus for wanting to soar to the heavens as he had seen the birds do countless times. Don't kill the dream for risk of failure. That dream drove Orville and Wilbur Wright to achieve the once unthinkable - powered human flight.
It was one of this mornings with some low hanging mist in between the hills of my hometown. As the sun came over the horizon, the small beech forest was flooded with fresh morning light and I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time.

No title …..yet……
If you have a suggestion for this photo, don't hesitate to tell me.
Thanks and enjoy the beginning of the weekend. ;-))
~~~~~~
Update: I got beautiful suggestions for a title, like:
- I see the Light!
- Come closer !
- Optical illusion
- Licht en schaduw ( in English: Light and Shadow)
- Reflect on my glasses
- Not too much light please…
- Time on a shadow
- Mirror of soul
-Time to put your glasses on
- Square peg in a round hole
It is hard to choose, but I did… and it will be "Mirror of soul" !
A foggy morning at the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, better known from James Cameron's "Avatar".
A lot of fog moved around the karst mountains, of which there are more than 3000 in the national park.
One minute after this picture the fog became so dense that we could not see anything for the rest of the day ... except fog ;-))
Wish you good light for the coming year ... and that you see more than just fog!
the eternity between Monday and the next weekend...
Happy Macro Monday everyone!
This cube is part of a perpetual calendar I have, consisting of four cubes (weekday, 2x date, and month), its edge length is a little less than 1 cm (= about 0.3937007874 inches). I put it on a mirror and used a table-top tripod. Light sources were the ceiling light and a little bit of blue hour remaining light from the window.
De monniksparkiet of muisparkiet (Myiopsitta monachus) is een parkiet uit Argentinië en het zuidelijke deel van Brazilië in Zuid-Amerika. Als exoot doen deze vogels het goed in Europa en Noord-Amerika.
Monniksparkieten hebben een opvallende groene kop, een olijfgroene buik en een lange, groene staart. Hun voorhoofd, teugel, wangen, kin, keel en de bovenborst zijn lichtgrijs. Het verenkleed bij beide geslachten is gelijk. Ze hebben een kromme papegaaiensnavel, die lichtbeige-roze is. Het verschil tussen mannetjes en poppen is nauwelijks te zien. Men gaat ervan uit dat poppen iets groter gebouwd zijn dan de mannen. De lichaamslengte bedraagt 29 cm en het gewicht 125 gram.
In het wild bestaat het menu voornamelijk uit bloemknoppen, jong blad, boombast, bessen en verse zaden. In de broedtijd worden ook rupsen en kleine insecten gegeten.
Per keer legt het vrouwtje vijf tot twaalf eieren. Deze worden in ongeveer 24 dagen uitgebroed. Zowel het mannetje als het vrouwtje helpen mee met het uitbroeden van de eieren en met het opvoeden van de jongen.
