I don’t have a particularly, sharp image because I couldn’t get very close, but we ran across an odd looking duck at a local lake. But for the color it looks like a mallard hen, and it was hanging out in a small flock of mostly mallards.
The best I can come up with is this is a leucistic mallard hen. Leucism is caused by a partial loss of pigmentation resulting in white, pale, or patchy coloration of skin, hair, feathers, scales or cuticle, but not the eyes. Unlike albinism, it is caused by a reduction in multiple types of pigment, not just absence of melanin.
If any of you duck / bird experts have other thoughts about what this might be I would love to hear about it.
Radnor Lake State Natural Area, Nashville, Tennessee, USA. December 25, 2016.
This Western Kingbird and its partner have created a nesting site on a pole between some electrical boxes. Since the area is all fenced in they should be safe from two legged predators unless someone comes to service the boxes.
So far they are very diligent against winged predators.
Week 34: Numbers - Odd Groups
I'm sorry for the late entry, been sort of crazy week. All week I wondered what to take a shot of. I played with a few things and then as I was sitting on our patio one evening, I looked up and there was my shot! Comments always welcome! #photochallenge2015

One of my classic takes with the spring tulip blossoms of the Pacific Northwest is photographing the odd ones out. I seek out the oddball misfits and the mis-colored ones amongst the uniform rows of neatly planted tulips. I presumed that these bulbs were planted either intentionally or they just crept it. Regardless, they form a great subject to add contrast when shooting tulips

This odd concrete structure was once part of the silver processing mill in Silver City, Utah. It has now seen over 100 years of decay and graffiti and now appears quite mysterious.

Well, well, well, look who we have here. The Finnish railway system is going to be converted to the new ETCS-system, and for ETCS-testings, the class Sr1 electric locomotive number 3018 has been chosen. It usually performs tests in Kymeenlaakso region, and in this scene, the odd fellow can be seen at rest at Kouvola depot.

Workday at the angling club. We cleared some water weed around fishing stations at the lake.
This was an odd find. This matchbox was made of plastic, I think it is from the 70s. I was able to find it via google as a vintage matchbox for sale but couldnt find precise details of year/location/company etc
A stem of reedmace had somehow managed to grow right through the box.
