The Oculus, World Trade Centre, New York
----
The Oculus stands as a pivotal element within the visionary framework of the World Trade Center masterplan, envisioned by Daniel Libeskind and brought to life through the architecture of Santiago Calatrava. Its striking form, characterized by the interplay of white metal-clad steel ribs, ascends skyward in a gesture reminiscent of a hand releasing a dove.
Beyond its aesthetic significance, the orientation of the Oculus carries profound symbolism, serving as an enduring tribute to the events of September 11, 2001. Aligned with the solar angles of the sun on that day, from the initial impact at 8:46 am to the collapse of the second tower at 10:28 am.

What is the plan for the weekend? It’s getting close and I’m kinda excited. I still don’t have anything set in stone but what ever we endup doing we will make sure it’s fun. Weather is looking good too, fingers crossed. This was also shot while we had fun in NYC. What do you think?
A 45mm view of the aboveground head house structure of the World Trade Center station, called the Oculus, designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. It is supposed to resemble a dove taking flight. For me, is the most extraordinary bandoneon in all Manhattan.
This structure, with its decidedly extravagant shape, is a major transport hub of the city and is located underground between towers 2 and 3 of the World Trade Center. Together with other buildings in the district, the Oculus represents the city’s rebirth after the tragic attacks on September 11, 2001 and has a very long and interesting history.
