I am officially getting sick. My voice dropped an octave over night, so I no longer sounds like Mickey Mouse and more like...a man. I wasn't feeling particularly bad, but sounded terrible. It worked out in my favour a couple of times. One of the project manager's at work who is sometimes a hot head was freaking out. I was trying to help her and where she would usually start to talk louder and louder to the point of yelling, she was caught off guard everytime I opened my mouth and almost laughed a couple of times.
After work, the department went for pints with the new boss and the new engineer and then Andy picked me up and we went to visit his family. They were also amused by my voice. On the way home we stopped by Jacqueline's house because she had made me a pie for feeding the Chairman. She made my favourite, chocolate cream pie and it was delicious.
When we got home I sang along to the Crash Test Dummies. In the right octave. No exaggeration.

The instrument itself and the case were constructed separately. Both were purchased in 1755 by composer Giovanni Battista de Michelis. This is one of the oldest existing octave harpsichords.

my hubby usually takes an instrument with him when we go out. If we're just hanging out, he'll bring it out and play while we do whatever. Today we had a picnic down by Pearson Air Field and watch the runners for the Solstice Run.

Octave Dua, Belgian secondary tenor, supporting/cameo artist and stage director (1882-1952). Entirely forgotten, despite a superb international career. Hence the scarcity of his iconographic/acoustic material.
