A full octave, functional ocarina that began life as a large pinch pot. Sculptural and altered pieces were added to make this more of a display piece more than a functional piece.

Stoneware - 12" in length

This project is an expansion of these pieces from a couple of years ago:

VIDEO - Vitas in Vancouver ‘Sleepless Nights’ www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSMGJbP-H90

This is the FIRST EVER concert that Vitas has performed in Vancouver, Canada at the River Rock Show Theatre in Richmond, BC on February 03, 2011. Vitas sang in different languages: Italian (Nessun Dorma, O Sole Mio, La Donna Mobile, Ave Maria), Chinese (青藏高原 The Tibetan Plateau) and, of course, Russian where the singer is from. The concert is a brand new production named Sleepless Nights and Vitas is being branded as an ‘Artist Who You Have Been Waiting For.’

The high octave operatic style of music has that unique Vitas showmanship coupled with a genuine desire to please the audience which made him such an international star who has sold more than 100 million CDs worldwide. In his official Russian web site, Vitas is known as an author/composer/actor.

The music video MV of Vitas’s concert in Vancouver is only at Vancouver 21 and affiliated sites. A special thank you to the Vitas concert producers for making this exclusive arrangement possible.

OCTAVE mixed private-affordable housing development for Brent Council (due for completion 2011), Empire Way HA9, Wembley, Brent, London. Octave is the private bit, I think, & Ada Lewis House, around the corner on Empire Way itself, the council bit.

The only reason why I chose this as today's outtake is the fact that his face is slightly out of focus.

Taken for my Project 365. Your comments give me the will to continue, so come on: say something!

Please don't leave badges, group images or invitations on my photos.

Octave John "Johnny" Claes (11 August 1916 in London – 3 February 1956 in Brussels) was a racing driver from Belgium. Before his fame as a racing driver, Claes was also a jazz trumpeter and successful bandleader in Britain.

He was born to a Scottish mother and Belgian father. He was educated in England at Lord Williams's School. In England, he began playing trumpet in a jazz band that included Max Jones on reeds, and another with Billy Mason on piano. In the 1930s he moved to the Netherlands, where he worked with Valaida Snow and Coleman Hawkins. He also worked with Jack Kluger's band in Belgium. Returning to England, he led his own group, the Claepigeons, making a recording in 1942. In the late 1940s he abandoned his jazz career and settled in Belgium as a professional racing driver.
