This female Rose-breasted grosbeak (Pheucticus ludovicianus) just watched from this perch and didn't indulge in the pond's stream. The archives say this time is about correct for this species but it seems different. The parade of spring storms has no doubt upset the 'normal' migration but this seems way out of the norm.

While not exactly sharing responsibilities, Cornell Labs says this about egg care: "The male Rose-breasted Grosbeak takes a turn incubating the eggs for several hours during the day, while the female incubates the rest of the day and all night long. Both sexes sing quietly to each other when they exchange places. The male sometimes sings his normal song at full volume from inside the nest."

We already know a bit too much, and they already hold a bit too much power. See the problem?
