I had observed several gulls do this fly around and land (behind me as it were) and thought it might be fun to try and capture it,

Any how after several unhappy attempts at putting it all together, today was a reasonable success. The light on the Gull, large and central, is courtesy of a large window reflection of the sun, acted like a flash in effect, i have since wondered how the birds cope with this reflection when they get close, i suppose it is a little like us, driving into the headlamp beam of an oncoming car, you just learn to handle it......

... by many eyes :-))

Happy Weekend !

Reflection of Holzhausen palace / Holzhausen-Schloesschen

just around the corner, Frankfurt-Nordend.

They are curious to be observed while bathed by the rough sea, illuminated by the last rays of light, anxiously waiting to see the light of the moon, the light of the stars and so on forever, only that they feel observed

Sienten curiosidad por ser observadas mientras bañadas por el bravo mar, iluminadas por los ultimos rayos de luz, esperando ansiosamente a ver la luz de la luna, la luz de las estrellas y asi eternamente, solo eso se sienten observadas

One on the left is holding a eucalyptus leave in its talon and having a bite to eat. This is the first time I have observed an owl eating leaves.

Thank you everyone for your visit, favorites and comments.

This young wild horse shared a tender moment with his mother.

He will change colors as he ages as grey is a dominant gene in horses.

This photograph was taken in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.

It is always a privilege and so much fun to find these wild horses and observe how they interact with each other.

Thanks for viewing and HCT 😀

A photography of my father, who stood pensively contemplating the landscape with a lost gaze. The photography was totally improvised and, without thinking twice, I took the picture.

Frequently observed in parks and gardens, the wood is more feral than the beetle and flies away. Large troops are formed in the fall and winter. In the countryside, farmers consider the wood-pigeon tree (or pigeon tree) to be a nuisance bird in winter, because it damages the fields of rapeseed, cereals and other crops (cabbage, clover). Fearful because of the hunt that is made for him as game bird, the woodman is much more confident in the city, where he walks on the lawns of the parks.

I don't want summer to end without posting a butterfly. Here is a Painted Lady, and as you can see it was well aware that I was taking its photograph. How lucky we are to be able to observe with our macro lens their tiny lives.

Butterflies have been the inspiration of so many fairy tales and fantastic stories, and there are so many more things that I can say about them, but for now I'm going to stop there :)

Something interesting about this butterfly:

Photography is one of my passions, and nature photography is my favorite.

I have been in Explore for more that a hundred times, and it is an awesome experience to have your photos showcased in such a special way.

I thank your for coming today, for leaving a comment, and make a favorite of yours this photo, (if that is the case) thanks again!

The best part of this forum is the contacts and friends that I have made over the years, that have the same passion for this art that is called photography!

Towering 18 metres above the ground, the Treetop Walkway is a chance to get closer to Kew’s trees.

From its heights you can observe the complex ecosystem of the trees' uppermost branches, a world teeming with birds and insects, lichen and fungi.

At ground level, sculptures carved from tree trunks illustrate microscopic elements of trees to explain how they grow.

Happy Saturday for Stairs!

The National Photographic Portrait Prize and Darling Portrait Prize (paintings) entrants exhibition. National Portrait Gallery, Canberra. Who is observing whom?

The main portrait character is observing the photographer and in turn is being observed by the girl with the mask. She is being observed by the man in the far painting. The photographer is also being observed by the lady in the headscarf. The only indifference is by the woman reading the catalogue.

So I did ten times more work :-)

I Observed this Brown Honeyeater mother/father feeding the babies, It was interesting seeing how one of the littles waited calmly for his/her turn. The position to take this image was quite uncomfortable cause they were a bit hidden and camouflaged.

watching tower in Gotham City

There are birdwatchers, there are plane-watchers, there are sky-watchers, etc. But what does the observed think when he himself observes something? What goes through the minds of the two pigeons when they see the two aeroplanes in the sky?

Throughout the week we were at Tule Lake National Wildlife Refuge, we observed this mated pair hunting. Their favorite lookout seemed to be this one pole. Their success as hunters could be seen by the bones, feathers and fur lying at the foot of their perch, that is, whatever the scavenging crows and gulls did not carry away.

Numerous poles have been erected to give eagles and other raptors vantage points in an otherwise nearly treeless expanse.

We observed this beauty at the park VERY early this morning. When you go early you see a lot of water birds. I only had a 250mm lens but he let me walk right up to him.

Rarely seen alone, the Long-tailed Orite spends most of its life in a family group.

The latter may have 3 or 4 members at the start of the nesting season and up to 20 or more after it, in fall and winter. Larger groups include multiple families. Group members defend a territory both during nesting and in winter to feed and sleep. Although it wanders here and there through the woods and along hedges in winter in search of food, the Long-tailed Orite rarely ventures far and stays for years in the same area. During their relentless quest for supplies, the bands are often accompanied by true chickadees, wrens and other small forest passerines. The social habits of the Long-tailed Orite allow it to survive in winter. By huddling together along a branch, ruffled plumage, these little birds lose as little heat as possible.

Aulacorhynchus albivitta

(Southern Emerald toucanet / Tucancito Esmeralda)

Like other toucans, the Andean Toucanet is brightly marked and has a large bill. The adult is 30–35 cm (12–14 in) long. The sexes are alike in appearance, although the female generally is smaller and slightly shorter-billed.

The Andean Toucanet is a generally common in humid forest and woodland, mainly at higher elevations.

Her beauty is more subtle than the one of the male but a beauty none the less especially when observed in a Summery Decor like this one (IMHO) :).
