Not a lot of landscape photography going on in my life at the moment, the three grandchildren I have staying with us are not giving me much time for that. However I’m using a quiet moment while they have their breakfast to edit this photo taken back in June. I’m missing this wood a little at the moment as I’ve really got attached to it with so many visits over the last 8 months. I haven’t been back since June as the midges have me frightened, they were savage. So I had decided I’d let summer take its course and try to catch it in late August when the rowan berry’s are red, but now in late July I’m wondering if I can go that long without visiting again. The photo was taken at 5:45 and it still retains some of the softness of the morning, but as the sun had risen over an hour before that softness is disappearing fast, still these 3 oaks on a hill were a nice warm up to my battle with the midges.

To me, winter is the quiet season--the time when the trees and animals sleep and the earth lies fallow. The recent rain storms have blown the leaves from the trees whisking autumn from the stage. Looks like we may get an early winter this year.
