I loved this beautiful , very majestic oak tree, it was covered on acorns too ! Very late posting today, it's very tiring looking after our 4 year old grandson for the weekend, but I wouldn't miss it for anything :)

This Oak tree was known to me in my childhood as 'my favourite tree.'
Seeing it again today was like greeting an old friend who I haven't seen for a while, except this friend has actually been around a lot longer than I have and will surely outlive me.
The woods were my playground, a weekend retreat with my family from the city.
This tree stands at the edge of the wood, near to a dry stone wall that borders a caravan campsite, where we stayed, so I could climb this one, lock my feet into the branches and dangle upside down in sight of my long suffering parents.
The limb without any bark is long since broken and used to branch out for a good length horizontally which made it a great place to climb, play and dream.
Oak Leaves..
After the big snow fall on Friday night, we went for a long walk in the park. There were snow drifts which resembled sand dunes; the drifting snow was up to our hips and for the rest of the hike it was at the knees. Needless to say we were exhausted by the time we got into the main area of the park.
We stopped for a short rest at the picnic area which has shelters consisting of a roof set on posts with no walls. Underneath are picnic benches, even they had a few inches of snow on them.
The wind must have blown all the leaves off of the nearby Oak trees, Because everywhere you looked there were Oak leaves embedded in the snow.
Thank you for visiting for marking my photo as a favourite and for the kind comments,
