I have no idea what the nuts are..

the size of nutmegs.. A seed head so Big...the size if a dinner plate.. and Delicious canary fruits...(Melon/Pear) Prickly Pear,

Plum and last but not least A yummy canary banana..

Introduced from Asia, the Canary Island Banana became acclimated to the islands in this archipelago during the 15th and 16th centuries.

It comes from the large plantain tree, which produces bunches of fruit weighing between 15 and 50 kg. The fruit, once ripe, is long, slightly curved and cylindrical. Its colour is yellow-gold, with small brown spots on the peel when it has reached its maximum sweetness, flavour and smell. It is most often eaten as a fresh fruit, although in the Canary Islands it is typical to eat fried bananas with Cuban-style rice. Bananas are also used in fruit cocktails and they are also making their way into the recipes of modern cuisine.

If you ask a typical canarian which fruit should one try in the island – you will definitely hear a Platano Canario! Indeed, local people are very proud of this tropical fruit due to the difference and specialities while comparing them to the typical bananas. The bananas grown in the Canary islands are very well known worldwide for its specific and more juicy flavour and the smaller size than one’s imported from Latin America. Because of the smaller distance between banana plantations and consumer market, the bananas have a higher degree of moisture index which leads to a juicer flavor. And therefore, due to the mild canarian climate, it takes more time in growing – about 6 months which leads to a greater aroma of the fruit. One can enjoy this fruit whenever visits the islands – the season of the fruit is throughout the whole year! You cannot miss trying Platano Canario!

I think being a little nuts is helpful. Carter Burwell

What an impressive and huge beak this Whitecrested hornbill has....

The way he could pick up the most tiniest nut was absolutely amazing!

And he played hard to get ...jumping all over the place...

I wonder who was going nuts here.... ;-)

Have a wonderful day!

Large On Black

The morns are meeker than they were,

The nuts are getting brown;

The berry’s cheek is plumper,

The rose is out of town.

The buckeye tree was heavy with nuts this year, nearly breaking the branches. The ground is littered with the beautiful nuts. The squirrels have chased and fought over our large Burr Oak acorns - but none want anything to do with the buckeye nuts. I was working on a project nearby and heard the sound of the falling nuts, usually a few in a short sequence, These nuts are from the offspring of a the hybrid Aesculus x carnea.

The lore of the oldtimers here is that if you carry buckeye nuts

in your pants pockets they will bring you virility. (I got mostly giggles from the neighbors.)

the timeless corner shop Mick's nuts is quite well known around Brisbane. No attempt has been made to make it look more modern or 'inviting'.

It had a write up in the 'Brisbane Must Do" web site:

'Come on Saturdays to this plain brick corner shop which happens to be one of West End’s timeless treasures and you’ll have to queue to stock up on almonds, cashews, pistachios, macadamias, dried beans, fruit and lentils. Not much has changed inside since Mick, who hails from Rhodes in Greece, opened his shop in 1975, but the produce is fresh and bountiful and staff are helpful and informed.

Amongst the stack of raw and roasted nuts which cover almost every inch of floor space (hence the outside queue) can be found Queensland pecans, Australian almonds and macadamias, Californian walnuts, Brazil nuts, Vietnamese and Indian cashews.'
