Areas of expertise: I’ve specialized in rheumatology for 14 of my 16 years of advanced practice. I developed an Osteoporosis screening and education program and launched it from Valley Health’s Coach Mobile Unit as my doctoral Practice Inquiry Project. I’ve spoken at the state and national levels on rheumatology-related topics, have taught an injection workshop and lectured on osteoporosis. I’ve also spoken on osteoporosis and presented my doctoral work at the International Symposium on Osteoporosis in Orlando, Fla.

The Brady School of Nursing honored its 2016 graduating class with a pinning ceremony held Thursday, May 5, at Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church. Thirty students were honored for completing the requirements for their Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees. During the pinning ceremony, they were congratulated by Shorter University President Dr. Don Dowless and Brady School Dean Roxanne Johnston. The students also were presented with their nursing stoles, cords, and pins. Nursing faculty member Dr. Kriss Douglass led the students in the Blessing of the Hands, praying for the students to be the hands of Christ throughout their nursing careers.

I was walking up to see the geothermal features in the Artists' Paintpots region of Yellowstone and was surprised to see this elk and her calf near the trail. The calf started nursing and the mother, despite looking at me in this picture, was rather non-plussed by my presence. No one else was around so it was just a quiet little shared moment between the three of us.
