Bison calf nursing. About a few months after birth, bison calf lose their red fur color, transitioning into their traditional dark brown. Hmmm, I wonder if it is because they are drinking chocolate milk. Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, USA, July 2025

I have observed the Australasian Darters for many years but only recently I've came to the conclusion that males feed the young birds much longer than the females.
Just to clarify - the father is on the lower branch...
(Anhinga novaehollandiae)
This was one of the behaviors that I was interested in seeing along with transitioning to solid foods and I was happy to be able to see both!
This is one of two squirrels that we are trying to save. The mother apparently died and we took the two boys and are trying our best to make them survive.
Update: they are doing fine so far. We have found a third one in the garden but will leave him/her there as he/she seems to have survived so far. Not sure this is right but than I am not sure whether taking the other two boys in was the right decision in the first place...what we are doing since yesterday though is letting them outside in the garden to play. The funny thing is they follow us like little puppies and area trying constantly to jump up on us for a little "cuddle" or probably just some kind of reasurance. Anyhow one day perhaps they will wander further and further away and if we are lucky they want to stay outside.

Found these pictures on my PC during deleting old stuff. I remember that the abandoned house was really creepy.

A Red Deer with its suckling calf on a summer's morning. It's nice to see the more touching moments with these animals for a change rather than the autumnal drama.

Description:
This poster from 1964-1973 encourages viewers with the catchy tagline: 'People remember Nurses'. Since the 1930s, demand for nurses has grown steadily, especially after the creation of the NHS in 1948. What kind of recruitment tactics does this poster use?
Our newest online lesson explores the recruitment and role of African nurses in the British health services: www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/education/resources/african-n...
After the Second World War, African citizens from Nigeria and the Gold Coast (Ghana) and West Indian citizens as part of the Windrush Caribbean migration came to Britain to assist with the growing staffing crisis across the healthcare professions. This came a time when immigration laws were becoming increasing stricter in the 1960s and 1970s. What does this poster suggest about the recruitment of nurses?

Chimp Trek, Day 2
Female chimpanzee on a branch nursing her baby.
Our main goal for this safari was to see Chimps in the wild. Nomad's Greystoke Camp on the edge of Lake Tanganyika certainly did not disappoint delivering 3 morning treks all will fun filled chimp encounters with the habituated M Group. The guiding here is exceptional as is the camp itself.
Mahale Mountains National Park lies on the shores of Lake Tanganyika in Kigoma Region, Tanzania. Named after the Mahale Mountains range that is within its borders, the park has several unusual characteristics. First, it is one of only two protected areas for chimpanzees in the country. (The other is nearby Gombe Stream National Park made famous by the researcher Jane Goodall.) The chimpanzee population in Mahale Mountains National Park is the largest known and due to its size and remoteness, the chimpanzees flourish. It is one of the very few parks in Africa that must be experienced by foot. There are no roads or other infrastructure within the park boundaries, and the only way in and out of the park is via boat on the lake.
