Das «Taschenbuch der Mathematik» von Bronstein/Semendjajew, meist einfach «Der Bronstein» genannt, war DAS mathematische Nachschlagewerk und Formelsammlung für Generationen von Studenten und Praktikern der Ingenieur- und Naturwissenschaften. Dieses Exemplar stammt aus der Studienzeit des Sekretärs.
Der SHARP PC-1403H aus derselben Epoche konnte in BASIC (und Maschinensprache) programmiert werden und hatte einen beeindruckenden Arbeitsspeicher von 32KB.

The Bronstein/Semendjajew "Pocket Book of Mathematics" (Taschenbuch der Mathematik), usually simply called "The Bronstein", was THE mathematical reference book and collection of formulas for generations of students and practitioners of engineering and natural science. This copy dates from Secretary’s college days.
The SHARP PC-1403H from the same era could be programmed in BASIC (and machine language) and had an impressive RAM of 32KB.
Une visite atypique dans les divers bâtiments abritant les oeuvres.
Au départ, vous vous rendez au bureau où vous recevez un plan, ensuite vous vous promenez seul entre et dans les bâtiments en ce compris au rez-de-chaussée des silos à grain et souvent vous devez entrer un code numérique pour y entrer.
Nous n'avons pas cherché à comprendre les oeuvres d'art moderne et je n'ai pas beaucoup de noms d'artistes, il suffit d'admirer et de se concentrer sur l'aspect photographie.
En tous cas, nous avons passé un bon moment.

An atypical visit to the various buildings housing the works.
Initially, you go to the office where you receive a plan, then you walk alone between and in the buildings including the ground floor of the grain silos and often you have to enter a numerical code to enter them.
We didn't try to understand modern artworks and I don't have many names of artists, just admire and focus on the photography aspect.
Anyway, we had a great time.

My 5,000th upload in my 10 years on Flickr.
The complex decision making process on which image to upload on this arbitrary numerical milestone was something even I didn't expect.
But here it is. An image of an unknown surfer that portrays a fluid connection with water and the elements won the day.
Holy Orchid seen on the Greek island of Kos on 29th April 2022. This is a Mediterranean species that is usually found on calcareous soils in full sun.
Its distribution is largely based on the eastern Mediterranean, occurring sporadically in the Aegean islands, Cyprus, Anatolia and the Near East. Although it can be numerically abundant in its preferred locations, it is decidedly local.
Spring flowering (April) produces 20-45 cm flower stalks with variable pink to dark purple flowers.
The bulbs of this plant are widely used in Turkey for the production of Salep, a popular local drink.
With the CPKC merger imminent, KCS has re-symboled their manifest, intermodal, and local trains to an alpha-numeric system. Formerly MKCSZ, this southbound between Kansas City and Sanchez Yard in Nuevo Laredo now runs as M280 (between KC and Shreveport as M260; south of Shreveport, M280).

After scouting the terrain in the late afternoon for a good viewpoint, a few isolated storms developed in the evening hours.
The numerical models expected storms to form over the central Austrian alps. However, they occured near the German-Austrian border, which was much closer to my location.....
The stormclouds were beautifully illuminated by lightning flashes as can be seen in this photograph.
These stormclouds were about 40 kilometers away, moving a bit closer later on.
I've already made classical shot of orchids. This time I tried another approach... Another angle... I using still the same bokeh ;)
I used this shot (the last last one and the next) to make a her a triptych.
Another view of what a commercial photographer was taking (I presume). I like the numeric squares behind her. She looks like she is tired of posing.
I'm not that satisfied with my serie of vine shots. This is not easy to have a nice focus. You'll see the others and tell which you prefer!
Macro Mondays ……. Theme " Remedy"
The daily routine of taking medication, taken from their blister packs,the macro highlights the subtle differences in size,shape and the alpha numeric identification in this assortment of tablets.
I am pleased to say the medication is not prescribed to me.

Windmills have become part of the Canarian landscape, silent witnesses of a past in which they played an important role in the economy of the islands. In the case of Fuerteventura, they existed profusely because this typology is developed mainly in arid or desert regions, taking the wind as a source of energy, to make up for the lack of water currents. To this contributed the almost permanent presence of air currents in the islands and the orography of the island, characterized by vast plains only "interrupted" by these peculiar constructions.
Their typologies are made up of two very different types, but one of them predominates numerically. The most abundant is defined by an architectural structure of flat circular plant, with truncated cone shape made of masonry, topped by an irregular conical or pyramidal wooden roof of which one of its parts is open to give exit to the axis of the blades. The interior is divided into two floors, with access to the upper floor by an interior staircase, in some cases, or exterior, in others. The other typology, of which there are fewer examples, is defined by a quadrangular building, on which rises a tower made with a framework of wooden railings, which supports the blades. In the center of the tower descends an axis that connects the gearing of the blades with the stones.

Sunflowers boast radial symmetry and an interesting type of numerical symmetry, and if we count the seeds of any spiral, the number will be the Fibonacci sequence. .

Another angle of the last flower! I find the colors of the background pretty amazing. Photography is like painting.
"How can I tidy the shed when I cannot properly identify which building it is?", I ask The Wife.
"Don't be silly" says she.
"Righto." I respond, as I trudge off, suitably admonished, brush and bin-liner in hand.

N.B. Our garden buildings all have names or numbers. The shed is named ‘Hut 3’, after a famous building at Bletchley Park.
10 Year Project
Each month I take a favourite photo from ten years back, and re-edit it, using current tools and knowledge.
I'm not sure I made a whole lot of difference here, but it's a little less crooked, and I prefer the shadows now, so that's good enough. :-)

World has turned a lot. Inventions and evolution have made our life so simple and easy. And the change is limitless and changing every single moment in every stage and steps of our life.
Almost everything has turned from pen pencil lock to rocket.
Olden days we used to have big pad locks and big keys. Now a day we have numeric or even digital padlocks. No worries for lost keys any more. That’s a big evolution at a stage of our daily life.

As always I took this shot with my leg. It is a little difficult. I think I missed one third of the photos I've taken... Fortunately I did'nt miss this one!
The ballons had something shining to the picture.
This style of lettering, popular in the 1950s, is very nostalgic for me. Especially with the long shadows of the late afternoon sun. Loved the color of this house, too...
