This was a very windy sunrise and I was rather late for the event.
I drove from the camp site in Kaka Point at about 05:30 and arrived at 06:00.
Got up to the lookout point at about 06:10 and then missed the glowing red clouds prior to this part in the sunrise.
Nikon D800, Nikkor 14-24mm at 20mm. f/13, 1/80 second exposure shot at ISO 100.

I was discovering the beautiful Catlins area under the rain during the morning. But fortunately, Mother Nature was on my side and let me witnessed a great sunset at the Nugget Point lighthouse!

We've had an amazing sequence of sunrises this week in Otago! I've accidentally slept through a couple of them, but not this one! I was running a little late and the sky was lighting up in amazing red and orange colors - I literally ran down the Nugget Point track to get to this spot in time. The rest of the day I spent exploring the beautiful Catlins River and the surrounding waterfalls.

This is becoming one popular site; one has to get out of bed early to get a place to set up the shot and hope for the best sunrise and not have too many people out front. Today was the day!
Nugget Point, Catlins - New Zealand
Another adventurous drive to this spot before sunrise. Total darkness, foggy, winding road, gravel road... and chilly weather. Once the sun was out peeping, we felt so warm and happy :)

Looking along the wild and rugged Catlins coastline, near Nugget Point in the very far south of mainland New Zealand. There's not much between here and Antarctica...and it feels like it!
