From photographer's notes - "Yesterday Bob and I did our routine photo shoot on the Gold Line Foothill Extension. We were really amazed at the rapid progress on how they are wrapping up this project. We seemed to see crews working all along the line. It is hard to tell not knowing all the details but we both think the Gold Line has pulled ahead of the Expo Line. So maybe there will not be a Photo Finish at Santa Anita after all. From what I can gather the Gold Line will open for service about a month before the Expo Line. That makes sense because it will only require 15 more Units to do so. Expo will require aprox. 25 or more units. Throw in a few for spares. The Kinkisharyo cars are supposed to start arriving in June of 2015 at the rate of 4 a month. So the Gold Line should have enough cars by the end of December. The opening date is obviously flexible because it has to be. Start up maybe early in 2016.
We both felt had the new cars been ordered when they were originally planning to be, there would be enough cars for a 2015 startup on both rail extensions. Maybe they should name a couple of stations after the two Board Members that held up the new car order. lol
ARCADIA
We were very impressed with the new Arcadia Station that was recently dedicated. It was nice that it opened before the Service starts because people are using the benches to sit and read. The landscaping is beautiful. After a few years the trees will provide shade from the hot sun. They are just finishing up surfacing the rail East of 1st St. The rail is all in and complete the full length of this project, The clock tower at the Station is very impressive.
The new bridge at Huntington Dr.has been painted and finished. It is interesting how the new bridge sits just West of the old Bridge. Part of the steel beam of the old bridge made up a side of the new bridge. Notice the old bridge used many rivets and the new one is all welded. You can see how the decking differs between the two bridges on the picture showing underneath. All bridges on this project are completed.
MONROVIA
At Mayflower Ave. we stopped at the crossing. They were working on the crossing gates. The steel Overhead Support poles are all up to Mayflower Ave. There is a gap between Mayflower and 1st St. in Arcadia. Setting up those last poles can go quickly."

OBITUARY
The death is announced of Mr F. A. Archer, who had been in ill health for some time, and who passed away at his residence at Fendalton on Monday evening.
He was born at Melbourne fifty-one years ago, and, when a boy, came to New Zealand with his parents, who settled at Timaru, his father, the late Mr Fulbert Archer, joining the firm of Miles and Co., which then became Miles, Archer and Co. He was educated at Christ's College, Christchurch, and began his business career with Miles and Co. in this city.
In 1895 he became stock auctioneer in the firm of Dalgety and Co. Two years later, when the Hon E. W. Parker retired from the position of supervisor for Dalgety and Co. and went to England, Mr Archer was appointed manager, a position which he held until about a year ago, when he was compelled by failing health to resign, to the regret of the members of the staff and of the firm's clients. In other directions Mr Archer took a prominent part in business affairs. He succeeded Mr Parker as the Christchurch member of the Colonial Advisory Board of the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Canterbury Saleyards Company. He took an active interest in the affairs of the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association. He was elected a member of the general committee in 1896, vice-president in 1900, and president in 1901.
In his younger days he was a prominent football player and a Volunteer. He leaves a widow and two sons and one daughter. One of his sons is in the office of Messrs Duncan, Cotterill and Stringer and the other is in Messrs Dalgety and Co.'s office. A large number of flags in the city were flown at half-mast in memory of the late Mr Archer.[4]
Fulbert Astley ARCHER was Chairman of Timaru Harbour Board.

Good morning Alex,
If you're reading this it means I wasn't as fast as I thought I would be. I'll be back very soon with some breakfast - I figured with the jetlag, you might be starving...also since I kept you up pretty late last night...
I really hope you're still okay with all of it. I know we talked about it, and obviously you're an adult and can make your own decisions, but I still worry that maybe I pushed you too fast or something. I mean, I feel like I've gotten to know you quite well over the past year, but then again, this wasn't new to me, even if it was still special (and it was). Just let me know if you want to talk? Back soon!
Yours,
Maggie
There was no sign of an old stamp dispensing machine, or even an indication of where one used to be, but these instructions are on the post box close to The White Hart pub in Chipstead.
I took a shortcut through Minoru Park in Richmond (suburb south of Vancouver) yesterday, enjoying the quiet that only Nature can create on a late-autumn or winter day. There were remnants of thin ice on the pond, and that muted look of everything being dormant when…my eyes suddenly beheld the most beautiful bright red tree that still held its leaves and created one bright spot in the whole park.

Went to The Junction where weird lives and wasn't disappointed. On the way to a favorite pub I saw this BMW with Post-It notes covering the glass, lights and plates ( saving me some work ). I looked at it for a while and wandered off. Bet there's a good story here.
Note the sticker, at the bottom of the sign, marked by a note. This was taken on the Victoria Line, coming into Highbury & Islington.
The mother of the child whose head is partially visible also chose to harass me, despite this photograph being taken in a public place, and despite being informed that only the top of her child's head appeared in the photograph. She did not give me cause to fear immediate violence, or as far as I am aware commit any other criminal offence. Unfortunately, as she chose to speak to me while I was leaving the train with my hands full, I was unable to photograph her.

Well at least the geese waited until traffic had a red light before crossing Balmoral Rd. Interesting note...that Crowne Plaza Hotel in the background was a Holiday Inn back in the 70's. My family stayed there one night, and I recall sitting in the window 6 or 7 stories up watching (then) 27L arrivals...TWA, North Central, all etched in my memories right there. Almost fitting that over 30 years later I sit mere blocks from that location enjoying flights arriving and departing on that very same runway.
