Inspired by Katie Cupcake's notebook embroidery. The tattoo image is from Jenny Hart's Stitch It Kit.
Convenient size for the comfortable writing, white unruled pages and fixing elastic band help to keep your notes of integrity. The handmade notebook is closed with cord fixed by writing instruments.

After months of relying strictly on loose paper, I've decided to try keeping a sketchbook again.
This one is from Omer DeSerres, has 100 sheets of medium weight paper, and measures 15cm both sides. My only complaints are that the pages aren't perforated and there isn't an elastic or something to keep it together. I love the square dimensions though.
As an aside, why is it that all North American sketchbooks and notebooks have such ridiculously huge rings and high page counts? I always end up horribly crushing the rings and have trouble holding the books because they're so thick.
While I would love to own one of Gfeller's leather notebook covers, I can't justify the $75 price tag. So I did the next best thing (ie, cheaper diy option) and modified a Writersblok notebook with an interlocking pencil/pen holder. I combined two notebooks, using one of the leftover covers to create extra flaps/pockets and the pen loops.

Journal „Castle” from collection „Diary of Princess” - my interpretation on, how those diaries can look like these days.
This journal may serve as

- a „good wishes” book (e.g. for newborn, on birthday party etc.)

Measurements and materials:
Size A5 ( 21.5 x 15.5 cm), 2.8 cm thick, hardcover.
Includes 85 sheets of semi-dense white drawing paper. May be used as well for writing a as for drawing or sketching.
Upper cover is wrapped with semi-linen fabric, back cover is rapped with white handicraft paper. Bound with brown cotton cord, one end of which can be used also as a bookmark. It is a great pleasure to hold this book in hands and write in it.

I tried my hand at making a notebook, and for a first try I think it looks pretty good. The cover needs a bit of work, and I still haven't put anything close to decorations on the notebook, but I'm pretty pleased so far! I'm still waiting for the cover glue to dry.
I'm planning to use this for this year's embodiment ;)

I finally found a source for my favorite notebooks. Powell's Bookstore in Portland has them, but they say they don't ship this kind of stuff. And I'm wondering why the heck not... I mean, if you sell them in the store, why wouldn't you ship them?
Grrr.
Anybody know somewhere else I can get them? I need them in a bad way.
